1 pic is better than 1000 000 words 👍🏼😎

I’ll have to get on the meme train. To bad I’m not funny.

A very interesting topic. Memes can be great, but I doubt it that you can extract too much value from a single meme. For example a meaningful, well written post has the power to change lives, or at least impact the reader on multiple levels. A meme has a very limited value proposition.

Also for new users (like me), who want to gain following and attract some dolphin/whale attention, it is very hard to do so with memes. For people who have reached a certain level of succcess (like you), I think it is a viable option to use dMania and still offer value.

So I think this quick-fix applies for people, who can afford it. People who have already accomplished a lot on the platform. I am very interested to see how you are going to mix dMania with value proposition ( from your previous post, where you said you will add value to the dmania post).

Looking forward to your posts :)

True on that side! Nothing will ever beat the power of text when it comes to giving out value. Since it can contain so much value every single word. Especially when there is an experienced writer doing his thing. He will optimize every single line to give out maximum amount of value. And that writer also know how to use exciting triggers in the text to get the readers attention. What happens is that you focus more deeply and you start to feel like how the person felt when he was typing something out. Almost feels a bit mysterious. May have something to do with our mirror neurons.

Since we are very visual creatures memes can help for us to remember certain things so they can work side by side with text content. I like to take screenshots of exciting stuff and look at it with my eyes a lot to put it in my head and subconscious. And it does work. Many times simple basic stuff leave so much out. That's why we need long form text content. It's abundance. Skilled writers like Goethe and Rousseau you read a few pages and your whole world view can change in an instant.

It's true as you say that meme content for a new person on Steemit will not stand out because it's easier to produce. Harder to produce are DTube daily vlogs and long form well thought out text content. It's more scarce so it has higher value. It's also more vulnerable because you share a deeper part of who you are. But it also creates trust which is one of the core things Steemit is trying to create more of. Higher value quickly stands out as humans scans constantly for where they can get the maximum benefit and reward!

The ideal would be a meme + long form text content at the same time. You can even create your own original story about a meme. If it's something that humans love then it is story telling. Or even more original you could use famous memes but hire an original artist that makes his own creation with some new remix touch that creates a feeling of uniqueness.

Dmania rocks. If you haven't signed up yet your missing

I write for a living, so if I get writer's block, I lose money, which means there is a lot of stress and pressure around this subject.

Thanks for sharing.

For me, freewriting has helped tremendously. Writing for 15 minutes straight, getting anything and everything out of my head and onto paper, even if that's just how frustrated I am that I can't focus, helps me clear my mind and refocus on the writing projects I need to get done.

I think that the curators can handle that if they implement impartiality in their vote logic.
(value+work)/IL=vote value
IL* Impartiality logic its not a fixed rate its depend on the curator judgement
Thank you the post :)

I need to sign up for DMania. I am an incorrigible shitmemer. The main thing I miss from facistbook was the "Useless, Unsuccessful, and/or Unpopular Memes" group. I was always proud to be deleted there. Here is my current live one on here. https://steemit.com/meme/@creationofcare/the-stone-cold-truth

This comes at the perfect time! Not just myself but I see lots of other steemians struggling with this issue as of late. Let’s sll spread this post far and wide 👍 Thanks for this! You offer great ideas on how to go forward when feeling blocked

I'm pretty new here and I'm already in love with your blog.... I'll like to ask the difference between dmania, dtube and the main steam platform because I'm kinda confused.... I'll appreciate your response.... Keep posting great stuffs

Steemit = the main blogging platform.

dMania = memes.

dTube = video.

dSound = music.

;-)

And now there is dLive, for live streaming. Mostly gamers, but some of them are earning decent wages

I’ve been here a few months and it confuses me too haha
Just keep interacting and doing you on here 👍 someone else can give u a solid answer but I wanted to jump in and let u know you aren’t alone and tell you keep writing and posting and checking out content while u figure it all out!

Excellent write up, like it is said

a picture speaks a million words.
A meme actually does same while cutting down on the amount of productive time that would have been used in thinking.
The great news about it all is that one gets paid for being creative and at the same time putting a smile on someone's face.
Which just explain our human concept which is gradually fizzling out of the world today and it is the fact that human being thrive and attain greatness when the people around him dereive joy and comfort in his company or creativeness. I am @fuhrer and i look forward to more excellent write ups like this.

True say...

I mean memes are a thing, they’re almost like an offshoot of satire. I can’t see me jacking in long form writing about music only in an attempt to encapsulate an album in an image and 9 words. I’m not sure it is possible actually.

Might be a lower reward to effort ratio but I’ll happily take that on the chest as part of the reward is realising a piece of work and seeing it exist.

Which is pretty much your sentiment I guess!

hey, you the one whom I talked on steemit- chat?

Nope.

Someone else just tipped me off earlier said there is someone who’s using my name scamming people.

Would love to know what could be done...

oh, that's too scary.
hopefully he'll stop doing that.

oh i see :(

Personally for me, I do obviously enjoy memes, but I'm much more likely to up-vote content that has more substance to it, because I appreciate the effort that's gone into the post and I want to help show my appreciation for it.

That being said, you're right in that sometimes a reaaaally long article is just a bit too much. As much as I admire the effort that goes into a lot of them, I don't have time time to read something that's going to take me 15 minutes to go through a lot of the time.

A happy medium is the best I think, post the odd meme, short article, long article, but I think medium length ones are usually the most appealing... to me anyway :)

Meme's, like them or not, are exceedingly popular. So why not tap into that popular culture? Give the people what they want.

In between the quick meme posts and longer written pieces, there also seems to be a rise in quick thoughts people jot down -- for example, those contest posts where submissions are limited to a certain amount of words seem to be gaining popularity as well. It's interesting to see which kinds of posts will gain more traction on this platform, especially in a society where so many crave instant gratification

Hey. Awesome Article. I am quite new here on Steemit but to be honest with you. I think everyone has to try anything he can and see how it goes. I had different success with different things that I have done here. So if creating a meme makes me some money even more than my best long post .. or curation effort... which takes hours ... so be it... You might not get another meme so pumped next time. Well yes it is easy for you whales.. and I understand why. But for the regular plankton ... I think that innovation and trying everything you can think off can bring you best results... It is a treasure for anyone new here to get couple of cents on anything that he has created... It gives us minnows a feeling for approval that it all works and only can get better from there. Also it is really hard to judge whether a picture or text is more valuable to the platform it is all a matter of point of view imo... Well Thank you for the great insights ... as usual. Also thank you for your support. You have been awesome!!! God Bless You. Peace and Love.
