Why A DOCKER IPO Needs To Be On Your Radar!

So what is Docker?

So for those that are hearing of Docker for the first time, Docker is the "worlds leading software containerization platform" or better known as Application Container Platform.   As simple as I can make it, it is a technology at which developers use to create applications.  Another plus is that Application Containers are a solution to the problem of how to get software/applications to run reliably when moved from one computing environment to another. ( ie. The Cloud )

Why are Application Containers Important?

By using Application Containers,  developers dramatically reduce the time it take to spin up an application. What was once months, is now minutes!   Typically, developers have to develop code and test it on multiple systems and machines to make sure the application will function properly before its release the consumer.  This traditional way can be a very tedious and time consuming task, not to mention slowing down the release of an application.   Needless to say, application containers are the way of the future by combining the application, all of its dependencies, libraries and other binaries, all the configuration files needed to run it and all that bundled into ONE package ( aka. the "Container") * NetFlix runs their entire architecture with containers.

( Figured I would just jump straight into my next point instead of boring the non-techies to death )  * I could keep going on though! :-)

Why Keep Docker On My IPO Radar?

Docker is booming and the name has quickly become synonymous with Application Containers.  " It’s probably the fastest technology adoption I’ve seen in the past ten years. The fastest technology that goes from a cool idea to all of the major providers supporting it,” said Dave Bartoletti, principal analyst at Forrester Research.

Those are some pretty supportive words, Right?!  Indeed they are, as they are justified!

Other companies, such as Microsoft, are in the process of developing their own container platforms to compete with Docker and stake their claim in the Application Container world.

Now, why is that last sentence so important?  When one large corporation steps into a new market, another will find its way there as well.  This is how large corporations stay competitive and take some mat space in the "wrestling ring".

What does this mean for Docker? Docker has already stated they will be looking to go public sometime in 2016.  When that occurs, bet your sweet ass that will be one of the hottest IPO's in YEARS!  Having a kick-ass IPO only brings more deep-pocketed callers to Docker's door looking to capitalize on the market.  In addition, what better way to spend your money by buying out another company rather than investing into your own and developing your own product.--- " Hello, IBM!"  ---  For those that don't know what that situation means.....well, your better off with your newly found Pokemon Go.
