I figured it was time to introduce my buddy.
We got him as a rescue 2 years ago. My wife got him off of facebook some scum bag was pedling/ selling him on the swap and shop thing. I was very leary of a rescue because we have 2 younger girls. Well my wife really wanted a dog and we had come to an agreement that a basset hound would be a good fit because of temperment and because they are lazy. So my wife went and got him and when he got here he was a mess. Skin and bones , fleas, after he would let us pet him i found he has multiple broken ribs that had healed poorly. You could pretty much make out the shape of a boot in the breaks. He was incredibly timid and would piss when he was scared which was about 90% of the time. He went straight to the vet in the morning for a complete workup. Got all his shots, fleebath, everything, they even brushed his teeth. They said he was 15 to 20 pounds underweight , mind you he is a basset hound that should weight 50-55 pounds. We spent a lot of time gaining his trust and soon he was ok with us.
On to the next level. Working him in to being around other people. Luckily we have inlaws who are awsome people that have dogs and i am always over there working on the race car so we integrated him into being our garage dog.
Fast forward to the present.
He loves sleeping. Especially upside down.
He also loves the kids and is now the best snuggler in a tri state area.
Also just a couch potato in general.
He is a bit over weight now but i wouldn't have it any other way. He has accepted us as his pack and he is our family. He is honestly the best dog i have ever had and seems to truly appreciate what he has. Done be afraid of taking in a rescue dog. Sometimes they end up rescuing you.
