Week 27 (February 2019)

Welcome to Domains in the Wild. In this series I post images of domain names that I've spotted out and about in the real world. Then I write a bit about what I think of each one. It's easy to miss domain names, but they're all around us and play a key role in a companies branding, messaging and design. Spotting them and taking a photo is sort of a fun hunting game to play while you're out and it takes very little effort once you start looking for them. Once you start to play, you will start seeing domains everywhere without even trying.

If you catch any yourself, please share them with us all in the comments.

Without further delay, here are the domain names that I found in the wild recently...

The Domains

More trucks! I've got another 3 domains in the wild all caught on the sides of commercial vehicles. I'm not trying to only find them on cars and trucks, but it's one of the most common places to find a domain name in the wild. Enjoy!

MMComfortSystems.com

The first domain up is MMComfortSystems.com. This domain belongs to a residential and commercial HVAC company that provides services in Seattle and Tacoma. They've been in business since 1977.

I'm not a fan of this domain, it's a bit long and it's combining an acronym and two words. However, on the plus side it's at least an exact match of their company name.

YoungOcean.com

Next up is YoungOcean.com. This domain belongs to a company located in Kent, WA. They provide seafood, dry goods, beers, and wines to local supermarkets, restaurants, and many food outlets.

I like this domain. It's a simple, short, two word .com that's both easy to say and remember.

NWPaintingCompany.com

Finally, we have NWPaintingCompany.com. This domain belongs to a local residential and commercial painting company.

I do not like this domain. Much like the first one on this list it's long, it combines two words with an acronym, but unlike the first one this one is NOT an exact match of the company's name! The company actually goes by "Northwest Residential and Commercial Painting Co.". This company could use an upgrade to their domain badly. I see NorthwestPainting.com is for sale for about $5K...

Well, that concludes this edition of Domains in the Wild.

Haha, best one of the three in my opinion! Thanks for the comments @dfinney! 😉
