Week 27 (February 2019)
Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!
End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.
On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!
Domains Recently Developed
Normally, I do this post on Wednesdays, but I was too busy and I missed it yesterday! So, I'm posting this today because I had the domains already picked out for this week and I really wanted to do another Recent Developments for February. I've got 3 domains this week, all that sold last month for 4 figures... Let's take a look!
Axual.com
The first domain is Axual.com. This domain sold on January 22nd, 2019 for $1,324 dollars at GoDaddy. Currently the domain redirects to Axual.io. I would imagine that this is temporary as the .com is a big upgrade and that eventually they'll redirect the .io to the .com. The company is located in the Netherlands and offering some kind of data streaming service.
As for the domain, I like it. It's not really a word, but it's short, pronounceable, and brandable. It's also a nice upgrade for the company that's using the .io at the moment.
Braidy.com
Next up is Braidy.com. This domain sold on January 24th, 2019 for $3,153 USD at GoDaddy. The company that bought the domain is Braidy Industries, a large company in the aluminum alloys business. They appear to own BraidyIndustries.com and now Braidy.com
Again, I like this domain. It's a great upgrade for the buyer / company and at a reasonable price. This domain could have sold for a lot more money in my opinion.
MojoHosting.net
Finally, we have MojoHosting.net. This is our most expensive domain of the week. It sold for $4,500 dollars at Sedo on January 24th, 2019. Currently the domain is redirecting to MojoHost.com. The buyer is a web hosting company headquarters in Bingham Farms, Michigan.
As for the domain, I am not a fan. Although I can see why the buyer may have wanted it to protect their brand / name. Overall, a .net domain has to be REALLY good to get my attention. Unlike the other two domains on this list, I'm guessing the buyer is NOT going to begin using this as their primary domain and this was likely just a brand protection buy.
Well, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
