Week 41 (June 2019)
Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!
End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.
On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!
Domains Recently Developed
I'm a day late on this series, but still wanted to highlight a few recent developments I've discovered from the domain industry. All 3 of today's domains were last sold on May 1st and all of them sold in the 4 figure range. Enjoy!
Ever.app
The first domain is Ever.app. This domain sold on May 1st, 2019 at Sedo for $5,000 dollars. It looks like it's being pointed to a github repository for "Ever® - On-Demand Commerce Platform". They appear to also own ever.dev as well as ever.co. I'm guessing they're planning a large release at some point and trying to gather all the 'ever' domains that make sense for their product.
As for the domain, I like the simplicity of a single word domain but I'm not a fan of .app. I think .app is an odd looking and sounding domain. And there are a number of problems with running on some of these gTLDs such as security and email. I am however a fan of ever.co. If they don't acquire any other domains, hopefully they use ever.co as the primary domain.
Coldspecks.com
Next up is Coldspecks.com. This domain sold on May 1st, 2019 at GoDaddy for $4,050 dollars. I'm not sure where they're located but they're offering emergency pest control & exterminating services on the site.
As for the domain, apparently Cold Specks was the name of a Somali Canadian singer-songwriter. I get the feeling this domain was bought solely for the traffic associated with this artist. I don't like the domain for this use, but who knows... maybe this is a profitable move for them?
MojoDesk.com
Finally, we have MojoDesk.com. This domain sold on May 1st, 2019 at GoDaddy for $2,045 dollars. The site at the domain is offering electric adjustable-height desks made by Xybix (Xybix.com) which is known for building ergonomic furniture.
I like this domain. This is definitely my favorite on today's list. I actually think this domain is better than the parent company (Xybix.com) domain as it's easier to remember and say despite being longer. You also kind of get a sense for what the product is just by the name. This is a great pickup for this enduser. Well done.
Anyway, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
