Cryptocurrencies are the end of middle-men

in done •  7 years ago  (edited)

they say... and yet to cash out some STEEM, I have to send the funds to bittrex, then localbitcoins(0.001 BTC/ £12 fee), then I have to get my money from local bitcoins into paypal (3% + 30p fee), then I have to transfer it into a bank and then go make a withdrawal.

This doesn't look like less middlemen, it is actually more.

Using a bitcoin card makes much less hassle, probably you had your reasons to not to use it? What about replacing bittrex+localbitcoins with dex?

Nowadays there are more ways to convert to fiat but still, no way around middlemen it seems, there always is a service around the corner waiting to Term of Service :D

I do have my reasons but it seems I will need to overcome them. Is dex an actual business or just short for decentralized exchange?

Bitshares dex has OPEN.BTC with mush smaller transaction fees. So if you convert SBD to BTC frequently, you can accumulate OPEN.BTC instead, and then withdraw them to BTC once. Of course needs comparing all prices with the ones you're currently using.

that, I do hope BTS find a way to freely convert into fiats, somehow ... otherwise its ERC20 and Visa cards :D

I probably should be using a decentralized exchange anyway, simply for security issues. But, I have studied many of the coins on bittrex and am able to make small but frequent profits on them. I don't want to have to spend months analyzing and observing new ones. Does BTS have any of the lower volume coins that bittrex has?

yeah but the volumes there fade in comparison, the market is pretty pumped tho, speaking of which what do you think of the bloody day we are having at the moment :D

the fee annoying me more and more

Yes, it wasn't so bad when 0.001 was £1. But, they haven't changed it and sometimes it is over £15 now just withdraw any amount of funds.

I suppose they won't be changing it, because they understand that bitcoin is now the real currency, and dollars do not matter.

Maybe they mean less physical middle men

I hope it will last...I've been longing to have this kind of flatform.

It actually is more. Not how it has been promoted eh?

Just find a guy who wants to buy and sell it to him.
