With free downvotes in-place should we make downvotes have n^0.5 (or similar curve)?
I make this poll because of some crazy unexplained downvotes @crypto.piotr faced on his valuable content.
Read The Post
Under the current system more SP you have = More voting power. Under convergent linear curve the person with 200SP gains more than twice the voting power of 100SP user. With 2.5 cost free downvotes per day the whales and orca can easily abuse their wealth. Convergent linear curve ensures the extra gains slowly diminish as the amount of SP grow. But what if we can look at things differently.
n^0.5
It means person with 200SP has X1.41 times downvote power as user with 100SP. This can limit the abuse of whales while keeping the free downvotes this way.
- I support n^0.5 for downvote power
- I support something closer to n^0.8
- The current system is perfect
- We want even more power for whale/orca downvotes
- The technical implementation might be unnecessarily complex
- Just reduce the free downvotes
- Other opinion.....

Thank you for your support @d-zero
My latest post has been downvoted by over half million SP (attack of few accounts), however I also received solid support and few strong upvotes and now I will be enjoying the biggest genuine payout in my lifetime ;)
I think that you won't be able to solve that issue with math. We need to educate powerful stakeholders so they would perhaps figure out ways of protecting users from downvote abuse. Right now there is no user protection at all.
Strong upvote on the way!

I see you got yourself some votes from some larger stakeholders too. That's a great positive side :)

I'm quite lucky @d-zero
I've noticed that you're posting a lot. And I was wondering what's your long term goal on steemit.
ps.
I would also like to thank you for your latest supportive comment. My latest post has been downvoted by over half million SP (attack of few accounts), however I also received solid support and few strong upvotes and now I will be enjoying the biggest genuine payout in my lifetime ;)

My goals are very simple. I'm just hear to learn from others, share stuff I know/learn, play some games (currently Splinterlands, Nextcolony, Drugwars) and make some investments to secure a good future. STEEM just brings all of those things together.
I enjoy what I'm doing and I just keep doing it. As long as I don't sell anything for fiat I'll end up with a decent set of savings while being part of a great community. There is also the bragging rights aspect too. I'm the 668,739th account on STEEM. I'm among one of the first few people to post on some SCOT Tribes. There is something really cool about being part of a project/community at the very beginning and see it grow.
In a way my goals are more of a everyday process than a long term one. As long as STEEM has the potential to moon I can safely spend my time here without worrying about the future.
PS: Damn! that was a good question. Maybe you should make a post on this :)

Thanks for your prompt reply @d-zero
You mind telling me how did you check it out?
I love to brag :) Perhaps I could brag as well (hopefully my account is within first 100k :)
I've seen that you delegated almost all your SP. Wouldn't you think that after hf21 you will get more from curating?
Not only you could attract more attention (people do check where do their rewards are coming from) but also you would probably earn more. Just curious.
I better not. Last post had so many comments, that I will need entire 2 days to read it all and reply hahaha :)
I would like to take some of your time and share with you some vision/idea behind "project hope" that I've been working on with few other guys from Steemit.
I think that you would like what we're doing and you could also benefit from being part of our small community. Your content fits very well to our interests.
Would it be okey if I will send you an email explaining our goals and vision?
If your answer yes, then would you mind letting me know whats your current email address? Or reaching out to me? [email protected]?
Yours
Piotr

To be honest I do not understand your explanation and where it stands for. The only thing I know is that the big fish do not care about free downvotes or if they are less. They can afford it to pay for it so nothing will change.

I'm ignoring the downvotes entirely and self-censor to avoid them.
