How much time Steemit needs to be as popular as other social media?
As a steemian it will feel great to see if steemit gets popularity as other social media. But It will take time, I know. As there are many more things related to it. A new steemian have to understand the network, how the community works, have to concern about flagging, RC issues ie, it really takes time to fit in this community.
May be it's a long dream to achieve steem wallet as a regular one. I think overall it would be great. But do you think steem will ever be used as other social media or how much time we need to be there?
Thanks for our time.
- In 5 years
- In 10 years
- More than 10 years
- Steemit need not to be as popular as other social media
- Steemit will never be as popular as other social media

Steemit is currently a failure, but not on a technical level.
The users make it a failure by being selfish and greedy.
Many people are writing blog posts, but only a few people care about other people's blog posts.
As long as people will not change their behavior, Steemit will never be as popular as other social media.
In fact, it will not be popular at all.
I don't even use Steemit nowadays. At least not for blogging.
Why would I be active on Steemit as a blogger, when my blog posts are not getting views, no matter what I write about, what I do.
And I am not alone.
Nowadays the real, human interaction is rare on Steemit.
Many people are left (and still leaving) Steemit and the Steem blockchain.
There are more than 1.2 million Steem accounts, but nowadays only less than 50 000 accounts are active daily.
The selfishness and greedyness of the users of Steemit are pushing away not just the existing users, but also the potential new users.

I am somewhat agree with you. It's really frustrating to see that there is no way a person can become a minnow in few months!
Writing a quality post need time but there is no reward system for the new comers. We all are struggling. But some dapps is quite good in engagement level and showing us the future.
Let's hope for the best. ✌😃

I say 5-10 yrs. Its to complicated right now. The average person outside the crypto space likes simplicity. Take a pic, post and that's it. They don't want to be pressured about posting quality content and such. The learning curve for a new steemian is to complex, and most are just not that knowledgeable these days.

It depends also on the improvements developers make. In the actual form it is not user-friendly enough and blogs lack readability. The original purpose - paying for quality content - is not really accomplished or only in small parts.

Unless Steemit the app makes drastic changes to its interface, along the lines of the much promised and ballyhooed Communities UI, it won't ever be as popular as even Reddit is now. That's because, while it does have its uses, and does what it does adequately, it's not what people are accustomed to using for blogging or other forms of social media.
If you're referring to STEEM as a social media platform, however, I'm not sure it becomes as popular as Facebook or others, either, but maybe it doesn't have to, because the STEEM blockchain is meant for much more than just social media. It's important that we get more people here, into the tens of millions at least, but after that, what starts to happen on STEEM should include all kinds of commerce, so the tens of millions can do something with their STEEM other than just hold, speculate, spend it on games, gambling or bidbots, or earn a pittance through rewards. :)

Yeah I understand. I also don't think it should be use like other social media. It has it's own purposes.
We need more readability in frontend, more filtering option or user friendly interface whatever you call it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
