My Fifth Painting For Steemit - With Complete Step by Step Manual

in drawing •  7 years ago  (edited)

After getting a huge appreciation and success in my last and Third watercolor painting, now I continued my journey with my new fourth watercolor painting only for Steemit.

yes, My guess is right 'ART' is getting much more attention in steemit rather than other posts. There are many art lovers worldwide in steemit who are ready to appreciate our works. I thank them all to give us an encouragement to work harder in this field.

So today I gonna share my another and steemit fourth watercolor painting. I hope you all like this very much.

I chose this piece to paint because it was the perfect wave.It represented our beautiful summer shore breaks that are a luminous blue with pure white spray on the breaking wave. I knew when I painted this that the colours would pop and the viewer would feel the movement of the wave in the painting.

First of All The metarials which are required for This Painting-

• MDF board
• Masking tape
• Willow charcoal
• Art Spectrum Colourfix
pastel paper Blue Ultra
• Brush
• Eraser
• Art Spectrum pastels:
– Cool Grey
– Flinders Blue Violet
– Spectrum Blue Deep
– Spectrum Blue Light
– Phthalo Blue
– Blue Grey Deep
– Blue Grey Medium
– Blue Grey Light
– Caput Mortum Deep
• Schmincke pastels:
– Cobalt Blue Deep
– Ultra Marine Blue Deep
– Prussian Blue Deep
– Greenish Blue
– White
– Ultramarine Deep

STEP ONE

Tape a half sheet of Art Spectrum Colourfix pastel paper in Blue Ultra to your board using masking tape. Use a piece of masking tape to mark out your horizon. This will give you a nice straight line. Use Willow charcoal to establish your composition, add this in lightly.

STEP TWO

Break off a piece of Cobalt Blue Deep and apply the pastel to the paper by using the side of the pastel, apply in a horizontal motion. Cover the entire sky and blend with your fingertips
smoothly. Add in clouds by using Cool Grey in a sweeping motion.

Add a light amount of grey and blend verylightly with your fingertips. Highlight the clouds with Flinders Blue Violet by adding a small amount of pastel to the tops of the clouds.

Do not blend this too much. Then remove yourtape to reveal a straight horizon line.

STEP THREE

Use your darkest pastel at the horizon line. Using the sharp end of Ultra Marine Blue Deep, get as close to the horizon line as possible. Then use Spectrum Blue deep and Spectrum Blue Light to blend together the three colours, graduating from dark to light as you move down towards the wave. Blend lightly.

STEP FOUR

Set in the shape of the wave using the darkest colors first. Once you have layered the dark shadows then you can build the lighter colors on top. I used Prussian Blue, Greenish Blue, Phthalo blue and Spectrum Blue Deep. Blend together lightly.

STEP FIVE

Use a shadow color before you add in the white of the foam. Using Blue Grey Deep, Medium and Light, apply all pastels in a circular motion creating a lovely blue-grey shadow under the break of the wave. Once you have created enough depth you can then add pure white.
Apply the white in a circular motion to create the swirl of the breaking wave. For the spray, add in enough white so you can use your little finger to smudge in the direction of the spray and add little tiny dots of white to create movement in your white wash.

STEP SIX

The white foamy suds will reflect the sky here so use similar colours to the sky. Use Blue grey Medium and Blue Grey White in a criss cross pattern, leaving some light and dark patches.

You can go between the patches and add in a deeperblue to add some depth, I usedPhthalo Blue. lend horizontally then add small highlights of whiteto indicate the swirls of foam. Donot blend this top layer of white.

STEP SEVEN

Create the small wave at the shoreline by using Blue Grey Medium in a circular motion and hen add a highlight of white at the top of the little wave ina circular motion, do not blend any of this section. Underneath the wave as it meets the shoreline, you need to place a small dark shadow under the wave by using Prussian Blue.

STEP EIGHT AND FINAL STEP

Firstly before you add the sand, washyour hands otherwise your sand will be blue! Use Ultramarine Deep close to the shoreline then add in a blendof Caput Mortum Medium. Blend together smoothly in a horizontalmotion and then you are done!
