It's time to forgive Fergie for her National Anthem snafusteemCreated with Sketch.

We're all human. We all make mistakes. It happens. We live and learn. Unless, of course, we're Russian bots. In that case, we don't live, nor do we learn.

But at last check, former Black Eyed Peas star Fergie was not a bot. She was in fact human. And she showed that in a big way Sunday night during the NBA All-Star Game National Anthem.

Fergie's attempt to go Marilyn Monroe while singing the anthem was atrocious.

It led to some of the most passionate and downright hilarious responses regarding the anthem in some time. And this comes with the NFL still embroiled in a National Anthem controversy of its own.

Warriors forward Draymond Green could not hold his laughter.

Neither could others.

Others weren't laughing.

The end result being the worst variation of the National Anthem since Roseanne grabbed her crotch.

Since then, Fergie has apologized. It was a heartfelt apology.

“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” she said in a statement acquired by PEOPLE. “I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
It's all time for us to forgive and move on. It was bad. Really bad. We get that.

But was it worst than you attempting to sing Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You into a shampoo bottle in the shower? Not to mention us trying to sing Fergie's My Humps. The cone of shame that goes with all of us men who have been caught in this unfortunate situation supersedes anything we saw from Fergie Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Think of it this way. Would you rather go out shooting your shot or fall flat on your face striking the same old numb chord? Anyone who has had a drunken experience at karaoke night knows exactly what I'm talking about.

And we're going to criticize a Grammy winner going it all different in front of a Los Angeles population with millions of karaoke singers pretending to be real artists? Get out of here with that.

Fergie messed up. She apologized. It's done. Let it be. Because if we don't, the next thing we'll see is will.i.am attempting to cover Cohen's Hallelujah in the NBA Finals. No one needs that, people.
