Dreaming Big-From a 17 Year Olds Perspective

Is it bad to be a dreamer?
From a young age, Americans are taught to dream big. Kids in preschool up until about 4th grade are told that they can become anything if they put their mind to it. With effort, people can do anything. Right?
As kids get older the emphasis on dreaming big begins to fade. Children begin to be discouraged when they say they want to be a movie star or professional athlete. They are told to be realistic.
When high schoolers are getting ready to graduate they are expected to know what they want to do with the rest of their lives. Most are discouraged from taking risks and reaching for the stars. The school system wants students to go to a 4 -year university and have a safe future.
Despite the school system's opinion, people should never stop dreaming big. Taking risks is the only path to success. Not settling for the so-called safe option is the only way to discover who people are truly meant to be.
People should never stop dreaming, for when someone stops dreaming, they are giving up on their potential. As an adult people should continue to make long-term goals on expanding their knowledge, traveling the world, and meeting more people.
From my point of view, a community like steemit is putting life and inspiration back into socitey. The world needs this.

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” -Harriet Tubman
