The number of people starting and looking to start an eCommerce business has skyrocketed in the past few years, and with good reason.
It’s never been easier and cheaper to start an eCommerce business because the platforms and tools to power your eCommerce business are so affordable, and the margins on the products you can sell can be very high.
As a result, being an eCommerce seller has helped a lot of people quit their day jobs and move full-time into running their own businesses.
However, within eCommerce, there has been another trend emerging over the last few years and that trend is to move to dropshipping.
Why Is Dropshipping So Popular?
The fact is, having to spend a lot of money to buy and store inventory without knowing if your products will sell is a huge risk. Then if they do buy, you have to pack and ship your products out quickly.
With Dropshipping, you don’t have to buy any inventory and you don’t have to store, pack or ship and products.
You only buy your products after your customer pays you, and your supplier packs and ships the products to your customers for you.
That means you just focus on marketing and selling.
However, even with all of that handled for you, there are still a ton of day-to-day tasks that you need to handle in order to run your dropshipping business.
That’s where having a reliable dropshipping automation app comes into play
While there are dozens of these dropship automation apps on the market, there are two big players on the market that provide the best user experience, automate the most tasks and have the biggest market share.
Those two apps are Oberlo and Dropified. Before getting into each one, we need to cover what dropshipping apps actually are and why they are needed.
So, What Exactly Are Dropship Automation eCommerce Apps?
When running a dropshipping eCommerce business, there are a lot of tiny tasks that are needing to be handled on a daily or at least regular basis.
Just a few of the dozens and dozens of regular tasks include:
- Importing each product into your eCommerce store, including all of the product images, the descriptions and the pricing of each item.
- Changing each product’s price based on the margin you want to earn on each product you sell.
- Placing all of your customers orders with the suppliers who will pack and ship each of your orders.
- Sending out the receipts for each order to your customers.
- Sending out all of the tracking numbers to your customers for their orders..
- Managing your various product bundles that have multiple suppliers, each needing their own tracking numbers and their own receipts.
- Keeping on top of your current inventory and pricing changes that may happen, when they happen.
…and the list of daily tasks goes on and on.
While many of these are small tasks, they are critical to getting right and they add up quickly with the more products you sell.
So while a task might only take 30 seconds to complete per products, if you sell 100 products, that’s nearly an hour of your time. And that’s just one task.
Add dozens of daily tasks and hundreds of sales per day… and your whole day is gone. And that’s just to fulfill your sales. That doesn’t include having to market and grow your business, which is where your time really should be spent.
All of these tasks are critical, regardless of how small they may seem - because they are definitely not small to your customers.
That’s why these dropshipping apps are so important because they help to automate and take care of all these tedious daily tasks for you.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at how Dropified and Oberlo compare to each other. Instead of reviewing each feature, we’re going to look at the bigger areas where these two apps are different.
Now getting back to Oberlo and Dropified, instead of comparing each feature since there are many similar features, let’s look at where they really differ from each other.
What eCommerce Platforms Does Each App Work With?:
Dropified integrates out of the box easily with Shopify, CommerceHQ, GrooveKart and WooCommerce
Dropified also integrates with several other larger sites like Amazon, eBay and dozens of other vendor and supplier sites as well. These integrations give all of their drop users thousands of suppliers to work with and millions of products to choose from to sell.
Oberlo on the other hand only integrates out of the box with Shopify. That means if you wanted to use run your eCommerce store on wordpress, or work with suppliers on sites besides AliExpress, Oberlo can’t be used.
AliExpress Product Research Software:
With AliExpress being one of the main sites that drop shippers like to use for finding products to sell and with thousands of vendors and millions of products to choose from, it can be time-consuming to find the right products to sell.
To help with this product research on AliExpress, Dropified offers its users access to their AliExtractor software, which helps users find hot new products fast, as well as helping them to quickly access and review the product feedback, compare product pricing, and much more.
It does not appear that Oberlo offers research software for their users to search on AliExpress or any other platforms at this time.
AliExpress Captcha Solver:
When your customers make purchases on your store, you need to have those orders fulfilled by your merchant, so that means you need to place those orders through them.
When you have AliExpress vendors that fulfill your items, you need to place your orders on AliExpress for the items. However, when you place those orders, you’ll most likely need to solve a Captcha pop up that proves to AliExpress that you’re not a robot, but a real person placing a real order.
This process usually takes a second or two to complete per order, so it may not really seem like that big of a deal.
However, when you start needing to place hundreds to even thousands of new product orders each and every day, that time adds up quickly.
Next thing you know, you have to spend hours and hours stuck in front of your computer, solving the annoying captchas over and over, wasting a lot of valuable time and money.
Dropified has a solution built into the user dashboard that makes sure these Captcha’s get solved quickly on your behalf, without you ever needing to be present, regardless of what user plan you are on.
Oberlo also offers a Captcha solving feature, but only for their Pro-level users. If you are on their basic plan, you’ll still need to solve these Captcha manually for yourself.
Auto Placing Orders:
When you start selling a lot of products every day, that means you have a lot of orders to place through your vendors each day too.
To make this process quicker and easier, Dropified offers its users an Auto Place Orders feature can handle all of that being the scenes for you by reducing the number of orders open in AliExpress. It also helps to prevent anti-fraud software from flagging the user, inundating the business owner with Captcha, and potentially blocking the IP address of users. No one has time for that.
Dropified makes the Auto Place Order process easy. Inside the Dropified dashboard, you simply select Auto Place Order and your orders will automatically go into an order queue and then you’ll get a confirmation by popup, or summary of all of your orders in your queue.
If there was a problem that requires some attention (and may be in your variance mapping information), then you’ll see a question mark appear to indicate a problem to look into.
The popup will list all orders that have been placed in the queue, and update you when they have completed (and moved on to the next order in the sequential list).
At this time, it doesn’t appear that Oberlo offers this Auto Place Order automation feature for their users.
Customer Support Phone System:
When it comes to making a purchase on a site they have never visited before, visitors want to know they are protected and can trust you.
So seeing a phone number on your site, knowing they can contact you easily can help put their minds at ease.
This is such a big deal that stats show that your conversion rate can see an increase up to 6% just by having a Toll Free Number or Contact Number on your store's website and landing pages.
That’s a big deal and a lot of money at stake.
But lots of phone calls can also lead to a lot of valuable time wasted due to the amount of time talking to customers, transferring them around, etc.
However, when you have a phone system that can route calls for you, whether to different people or departments and take off all the small tasks having just a regular phone number only provides, then you’ve really got a powerful support system on your side.
Dropified provides just this type of system through its CallFlex customer phone support system. CallFlex allows you total flexibility in being able to route calls, leave voicemails for the right people and departments and more.
At the time of this writing, it does not appear that Oberlo offers a Customer Support Phone System, so you’ll be on your own to answer calls and direct them manually.
Auto Place Order For Bundles:
One of the easiest ways to make more money from each of your customers' transaction is to bundle multiple products together for a higher price.
The good news is that you can easily make a lot more money per transaction. The bad news is that it can be hard for your dropshipping app to manage each product purchase in this one sale.
While it appears that Oberlo offers the ability to create and sell Product Bundles, they don’t offer the ability to Auto Place Orders for those bundled sales.
In fact, Dropified is the only dropship app on the market that can manage this multi-product bundle fulfillment process.
That means if you use Oberlo, users are going to have to figure out how to handle the orders and management of multiple Oberlo products suppliers and vendors across different product variations, which is extremely time consuming to do manually and very easy to mess up your customers' orders.
Dropified users are able to create unique product bundles in just minutes from as many suppliers as they want, and with as many different variations as they want and handling order management in just a few simple clicks in just a few minutes or less.
Why Dropified Is A Great Automation App For Dropshippers:
When you really look at all the tools and automation features that Dropified includes that Oberlo simply does not, the choice is clear, especially as you calculate all the saved time, money and headaches that Dropified saves you.
And trust me, all the money you are LOSING because you’re too busy getting bogged down in creating more jobs for yourself or your staff – instead of being focused on revenue generating activities really adds up.
