Struggling with Substance Addiction? Here's someone who got through it and tells us how! (feat. Shameless Protocol)

Addiction is arguably one of the most challenging aspects of life in 3 dimensions. As human beings we tend to dig certain things, either because they manage to distract us from the actual challenges in our lives or because we simply get hooked on feeling a certain way in our body and psyche.

Addictions are as diverse and numerous as there are things in the world. But when it comes to drug addiction the challenge of letting them go can at times seem insurmountable, especially if we have indulged for long periods of time.

In the spirit of offering some new angles on this topic and in spreading the word about an awesome youtube channel that focusses on exactly that, it is my pleasure to draw your attention to the work of CG Kid today, a rapper and former poly-drug addict who openly shares his story with us, and how he eventually overcame his addictions.

Special thanks to @celestal for putting this priceless channel on my radar.

An awesome dude!

The first time I saw one of his videos I knew this would be something to bookmark. It's a dude with the balls to tell the world about his past addictions, how it felt, why he couldn't simply stop despite the insistence of his friends and family, and how he has eventually found a way.

One of the most challenging aspects of a substance addiction is that most people can't relate to it. They may have addictions of their own but those are somehow "societally accepted" as opposed to people who got hooked on a specific substance.

And so, when it comes to battling the inner temptation and challenge, it is golden to have such a gentleman sharing his story in this most heartfelt way. You can really tell he has been through a lot and the amount of healing that will come over humanity through this one channel alone is totally worth a mention on my blog.

While CG talks extensively about all kinds of substances and their unique properties, there are also many videos detailing the dangers of prescription drugs many people seem to deem benign despite their worrying side effects and ramifications for the user, especially for young people.

And even if you don't struggle with substance addiction yourself, maybe you know someone who can't seem to ditch sugar, cigarettes, alcohol, cocaine or whatever else... this channel would be the best candidate to help someone choose the road back to sobriety. Needless to say that the mechanisms he describes in his addiction channel can also be applied to other addictions, such as gambling or sex addiction. I can see many people being able to relate their own challenges in life to substance addiction in general because the patterns are really similar.

So, if you feel you need some spiritual support on your mission of ditching an obsessive attachment, this channel will be of great service.

As he mentions in his videos he has also started an anonymous community and written an app where addicts can share their pain and support each other on their way back to health. Inspiring to say the least, teamwork and community has historically proven to be a potent medicine for beating addiction and depression, knowing you are not the only one going through tough times.

If you feel hopeless about beating your addiction, don't. You will find a way, and there is no shame in getting help by people who can relate to your situation - quite the contrary actually. Meeting likeminded people will lift you up and give you back the inner strength that you need to beat this thing, to be free once more!

Addiction is something that is very difficult to treat, because it requires the deepest self-awareness of someone who has experienced addiction.

Agreed. I often say there has to be enough pain in order to become ready to face the prospect of quitting... and a supportive crew of people who can relate.
Thanks!

Yes the pain is one of the most efficacious drugs to treat addiction, because with that they will be aware.👍
You are welcome😀
