So...I noticed this new "TOS" on DrugWars tonight. I haven't seen anyone else post about it yet...and I haven't even read the whole thing myself yet. TBH, when I opened it, for some reason a certain piece caught my eye and something along the lines of "Are you fucking kidding me?" went through my head and I just fucking closed it. I only opened it back up because I didn't see anyone else post about it in my feed yet and I'm just incredulous at how in over his head this guy is.
The purchase of FUTURE Tokens from FUTURESHOCK is only suitable for financially sophisticated persons who are capable of evaluating the merits and risks of such a purchase, or other persons who have been professionally advised...
I don't wanna quote the whole thing...and that's the main bit that caught my eye anyway.
You know, creating a game is a huge task. Creating any large project is a huge task. I've spent months before on projects and it sucks. But, when you actually launch something and get the money to actually get some help, sometimes you just gotta get some fucking help.
The spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes in the game can actually be kinda funny at times. They aren't necessarily a big deal this early in the game...but some of them do make the game look bad. I would actually go through the game and correct certain ones and put it into the style of the game possibly. It's kinda cool. But when you make an announcement regarding the game and don't run it through multiple people to ensure it's perfect...well...unless it's a tiny project...you can't really do that. When you're talking about what actually became one of the most popular crypto games for a while...yeah...that's not a good sign.
And then you put up a TOS...something that actually should have been up there from the beginning...and it's clearly not written with due diligence, let alone by someone who's a professional...
I don't know if there's any help for this at this point...maybe he just needs time to find people to help his project. It's not like you can instantly find perfect employees. But you have to recognize when something is beyond your skills.
When I've worked on small...well...not small...big projects...with small teams, you have to do a lot yourself. You have to do things that you know that you suck at. I know I suck at many things. Ironically I'm still better at some of them than people that do some of those things for a living. But when given the choice, I know I would much rather hire someone who seriously knows their shit.
When people started calling DW a ponzi, if I was on that team, I would have...after being shocked and offended...hopefully realized that I made a serious mistake...and immediately try to bring in someone capable of fixing the issue. Instead, they simply slowed down the payouts.
Then, as the game didn't really improve and seemed to actually get a lot worse various times in various ways...the amount of money coming in didn't seem to be improving. One of the funding methods they chose was taking a cut of posts made through their game. I personally don't see a problem with this...but you have to have clear labeling and let people edit the posts and try to make them the least spammy as possible. Preferably also don't start at 35%! JFC! Start at 5 or 10% and see if you have to raise it. When people freaked out about this and so many other issues, they just ignored the people voicing concerns.
At any of the points with any of the many issues with the game, they likely could have gotten FREE help from the community, and they should have realized they needed help. There were people offering ideas and input all the time that could have resulted in a great game. But it was kind of obvious by what was getting done in the game that they didn't have nearly enough coders/developers for a major project. I've known plenty of solo developers that can get more done. Not that all developers are that quick... I know their graphics guys are pretty impressive. They have re-hauled the site several times to a pretty high quality in record time. But then we see these other hints...hints that they need help...they're flailing in frozen waters and they're about to go under...and they won't fucking grab any of the hands surrounding them.
And here's this TOS that suddenly shows up on the site...and it's so obviously written so poorly...and here they have people live on the site...who started using it before a TOS was even there...
Get a lawyer. Get someone to help with PR. Get someone to proof read. Get more developers. Get help. You're drowning.

I think this pretty much just went up, so you are one of the first people to talk about it. I think this is another case of "they'll put up a post about it after they make the actual change", like they do with most of their updates it seems...

This is like when you see an accident happening...and at first you're "rubbernecking"...and then you see a guy running on fire...and you're just like...they need help...

Dear @geekpowered
Only few hours ago I read some post where author mentioned DrugWars and he said that many people call it "ponzi" lately.
I'm not much aware of this project, but it seem that I will learn more in upcoming days :)
Are you a programmer? Just curious what projects have you been involved in. Anything related to blockchain or AI?
It seem that they do not know term "damage control" and have no idea how to handle this issue. Sad.
Cheers
Piotr
