Podcast: Higher Education- To do or not to do? (Part 1)

in dsound •  7 years ago

My first Podcast ever... woot woot! In this podcast I discuss people's fears of student debt in higher education and tips to avoid student debt. In one part it may sound like the audio cuts out, but I seriously needed a drink of water before I started coughing, so there was a quick pause, but the video does resume. Please feel free to ask questions and leave feedback!

I knew you could do it! Congratulations :). You have a lot of knowledge and although the information isn't for me it was fun to listen to. I agree with you about education when you are a bit older.

Thank you so much! The first part did pertain more to people in the US, but the 2nd part I think is more broad and can help people outside of the US. I know you said you thought I would do well with social subjects, but that is very general. If you give me a more specific topic or questions, I might be able to explore those deeper. Thank you for listening to my podcast. I am very grateful of your support!

Yes that's a bit broad, I think so too. Maybe something about conflict with authorities strategies. Or is that to specific? Having to manage a conflict with somebody who hasnt a relation with you but you are dependant on them is something really difficult.

Oooo I have a great counseling technique on dealing with conflict. I might have to dig that up. When you say managing a conflict with someone who hasn't a relation to you, but you're dependent on them... do you mean like a parent, or a spouse? That part, I might need a little more detail on, so that I know I'm going in the right direction if I post about it.

Cool! I am looking forward to it.

No, although that would be interesting too. I mean somebody who is in a function of authority who can make decisions that has an effect on your life.
For example a person from an insurance company, or a doctor, or an pharmacist who decide not to help you. Or maybe a better example is a teacher because they have the element about not being able to switch persons.

I am going to have to make this a series as well. I think I will have to touch a few different areas to really dig into this subject. However, I am tired tonight, so I did not post about it tonight. I think maybe tomorrow evening if I'm not as worn out lol.

I know that feeling! Take your time to feel better. It is really important to listen to yourself when you are to tired!

I am looking forward to the next podcast but dont feel rushed!

Thanks! I got home late tonight. I went and hung out with my mom. That is important to me, and she really likes when I come see her. I have became such a homebody lately, I need to push myself to see her more.

Forgiveness programs sounds cool. It so nice to learned that your states offers many options for financial aid in order to pursue higher education even at older age or even to those who works before and decided to go back/take up college. Here in our country, there's a new law that said college education is free now, but you have to apply for it for I think not all schools are in agreement with the law. But I don't know the whole story I'm not updated lol. Back when I was young, I saw students applied as a student assistant and some work as part time in some food chain restaurant, that helps them to continue their studies.

A lot of countries offer college education for free which is an area the US is really lacking. Higher education can be really expensive here. There are more options now than before. The college I went to for my Bachelor's and Master's is about to drop their tuition rate to $500 USD per semester in August. Which I'm super jealous. I racked up so much student debt there lol. I wish they offered it while I was there.

Very good first attempt! I swear it's 100000000000% better than my first one. I've been doing this for a few years now - which is why I sound so relaxed :)

I can't comment on the content, although I listened deeply, the terminology and the systems are soooo different to the UK.

Thank you! I appreciate and I'm humbled by the compliment. I realized after I did it that the content was more skewed towards US citizens and realized how being more broad could help reach fellow steemit friends. The last two parts of this series, I made sure to take it more broad.

It is so nice to hear your government offers financial aids to those who want to pursue higher education.
