Happy Whale Song

I live in Newfoundland, Canada. Very large humpback whales are common here. They can be seen feeding as you walk along coastal trails or you can watch them sleep with their young as you fish off shore. I've seen hundreds. I have also hear them sing. It is beautiful and haunting song which can be heard for miles on the water.

I found a Whale in my modular setup!!!! As I experimented with modular synthesis today I played with NYSTHI's Soy Model SOU which is a random voltage generator. This module creates beautiful organic glissandos. I gave it some strict parameters and attached NYSTHI's LFO MultiPhase to control the volume of the whale's voice.

The accompaniment has been created with 5 synths. These were controlled by Turing Machines and set to tight parameters. Below is a short video showing the modular synth set up for this piece...

Lolssssssss....nice post....

Love your Happy Whale sounds Bucky.

I used to have a tape of whales and dolphins that I'd play as I was going to sleep ~ Used to have THE best sleep. Your Whale sounds are different again ~ Minus the bubbles and shrieks. 🦋
