Please enjoy another song I composed for your enjoyment. The piano pops richly on this tune.

Below, I'm including some of my own personal ramblings, and impressions of this song. Hopefully it inspires reflections about life and existence.

This song has a troubling double-meaning to it depending on whether you are watching the film or the stage musical. In the musical the place that is green that Audrey dreams about is a peaceful representation of death. I think the writers of this song possibly wanted to offer a peace lily to loved ones who may have passed this world of pain, and been redeemed with the peaceful release death offers. However, I think it provides a false hope to many who might be deluded into believing that life is utterly meaningless and devoid of any hope for happiness.

In the film version, this song is far more hope-inspiring. Rather than being symbolic, it provides a more direct story-telling of what Audrey dreams life would be like if she could escape from the hell-hole she lives in, known as Skid Row. Without the dead end job. Without a culture of toxic relationships. Without evils around every corner alluring people to make bad decisions. Audrey dreams of the simple life, with simple pleasures that bring true happiness. In the most humorous examples, she dreams of being a traditional housewife: microwave, 12 inch black and white television, Tupperware, frozen dinners, and the amazing ironing machine.

Even in today's standards the little things Audrey dreams of, as part of her ideal simpler life, it would be considered extravagant in some 3rd world countries where food, shelter, and safety are difficult to attain. Yet, it was meant to seem quaint, out-dated, and humble to modern living appetites.

Although I cannot replicate Audrey's unique vocals, I did my best by providing violin to sing on top of the tasty sweet piano trills.

The next time you find yourself eating a plate of salad greens, if they seem less than desirable, you might want to sing this song in your head. Eating spinach and kale isn't my favorite, but it sure beats a life of nutrition-less processed foods or having no food at all.

The cover photo for this song was snapped today using my smartphone, while walking along the streets of my own Skid Row.

Hello @creativetruth good photo I had never seen that kind of flowers, I really liked the song, thank you...

Even though I know most of the words to this song, I found your musical version more poignant. I feel this connection to a longing for something better. Not so much that the "grass is always greener", but more a yearning for something different, something simpler, calmer, more peaceful. I think many can relate to this desire for a change. To get out of the maze, or off the treadmill, and find an inner peace. Sometimes our place in the world feels too hectic, too troubled, too demanding. Some need this change more than others, but I believe we all seek that place of contintment.
