Necromancer (Evocation Mix)

This is an alternative version of an electronic track that I made a few years ago. I usually end up with multiple versions of tracks (not remixes) with different elements, arrangement, or whatever. Usually I will just choose the one I prefer for the mix, but was kind of undecided with these two versions.

Really I just had this idea to combine electronic music with some dark brooding strings reminiscent of the dark arts, hence the title.

As mentioned before, I did two versions of this track for this release (well technically 3, but the other ended up on Slave To The System). This is the ‘Evocation Mix’, the second tack from the single. The first track being the ‘Invocation Mix’.

Not that there is too much difference between the two, when I’m creating tracks I generally do more than one version with different arrangements, instrumentation, groove, etc., rather than it being some kind of obligatory remix. I’ll then usually I select the best version to go on the release (not sure if there is a ‘best version’ of this particular track though lol).

More about Skaarl:

All types of music appeal to me, particularly the more relaxed genres - chillout, ambient, downtempo, trip hop, jazz, latin, IDM, etc. Usually I will create downtempo electronic tracks, although I go through phases where it gets a bit more upbeat, just whatever I happen to be feeling at the time.

Back in 2019, continuing working with other artists, creating several remixes for Juxta, as well as collaborating with winkandwoo on Daybreak. Member of the EMA collective, Blocktronika, and have been part the ACR community for several years.

“Skaarl is not only a great artist but very supportive of others on the platform, top bloke” - The Turtle Project
@theturtleproject

“Skaarl is a Cool Cat and a great musician. He pulls great heavy driving music out of his pocket and slaps you. Soft at 1st. His track ‘I Fear The Robots’ with Juxta says it all.” - wav-Dr.
@wav-dr

“Skaarl has affectionately acquired various nicknames in the first couple of months in EMA but the main ones we refer to him as are “Trouser Man”, “Señor Trouser Man” and “Don Skaarlioni”! We’re surprised he doesn’t mention this in his bio below but we’ll leave it up to the man himself to tell you more!” - EMA

Sort Order:

Great track, sounds very sci-fi, soundtrack like...

Cheers mate, actually just been trying to sort this for re-release, I realised I had no idea what genre it even is, I just heard some kind of underlying techno elements so went with that (I know someone will dispute it though lol)

oh yeah, the dark side of skaarl :)

I think the forbidden rites dub is darker with the electric double bass and the screams, maybe that’s just me though 😉
