Twitter Is Getting Sued! Freedom Fighting Lawyer Robert Barnes Explains His Suit & Your Online Free Speech Rights

in dtube •  7 years ago

Standing up for the rights of millions, attorney Robert Barnes has filed a lawsuit against Twitter on behalf of journalist Charles C. Johnson. Johnson is the founder of Got News, and was banned from Twitter for his controversial reporting.

In his lawsuit, Barnes explains why Johnson has the legal right to sue Twitter for shutting down his account.

“The first part is the California Constitution has a broader definition and protection of free speech than even the U.S. Constitution does under the current application and interpretation of the law by the California Supreme Court compared to the U.S. Supreme Court,” said Barnes, “And that includes that if you do things to promote a public square of speech and debate, that you become like a public entity and thus can be governed by the free speech protections that apply to people in the state of California.”

Barnes previously stood up for the rights of Wesley Snipes, helping him triumph in his dispute with the IRS. Barnes also preserved the right to ballot access for millions in representing Ralph Nader.
