Syrian Druze are part of the Syrian mosaic that completes the secular structure of the only secular country in a sea of sectarian entities and countries. They represent about 600,000 of the total population as per a Wikipedia page making up 3.2%.
They're also called People of Monotheism" (Arabic: الموحدين al-Muwaḥḥidīn). After the 1920 colonization of Syria by the French, the occupiers split the Levant into 4 countries and carved out Iskandaroun Strip and gifted it to Turkey! The other 3 beside Syria were Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan. The Druze like other sects of the Syrian society were distributed among the parts mainly Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, few in Jordan.
In Syria, the Druze, just like the vast majority of the population, stood firmly behind their state and the Syrian Armed Forces, with some of the finest officers and bravest soldiers from their ranks which is not something new for the grandchildren of Sultan Pasha Atrash, who led the Syrian revolution against the French occupation. However, in Lebanon, they were split into two main sects then later a 3rd one emerged. The first was led by Kamal Junblat who after his death the leadership was passed to his son Walid Junblat. The other part was under the Arslan family and the latest third part follows Wiam Wahhab.
As the members of the so called 14 March coalition in Lebanon, Walid Junblat has offered all his services to the terrorists seeking to destroy Syria. Unlike the other 2 parts of the Druze in Lebanon following Arslan and Wahhab.
Junblat called for the slaughter of any Druze who doesn't defect from his state and join any of the terrorist groups operating under the FSA umbrella. His call was instantly denounced by the elders of the Druze in Syria.
