Consuming vs. Creating | Discovery Series

As a creator, how much time do you spend each day consuming vs creating content? It's easy to come up with lots of excuse on why we consume, but are the legitimate?

I'm on an upswing right now and this video made me think of all sorts of things. It would make too long of a reply though if I wrote it all out. One thing I'll say though is that, since I went solo a year ago after both my bands broke up, my creativity with music took a huge leap. That was because I always felt under the shadow of another band member. It was all in my head, but real nevertheless.

Up till then, I'd been working on learning the craft by copying other musicians, online tutorials and books, woodshedding on complex fingerstyle, and so on. When the fake fear of my performance situation left me, I began to use those tools to express myself, and boy is it good! But without those years of woodshedding and copying, I wouldn't have had the vocabulary. Or perhaps it might have been better simply to have expressed myself without a vocabulary and learn my own phrases? Could be.

I think there can be good things that come from learning and perhaps even getting inspiration at times, but it's a slippery slope I believe that can often put us into thinking we aren't good enough to put something out there. I'm proud of you man! You are amazing so keep up that hustle!

Yes i am agree bro. In my case is to obtain motivation, education and to watch different ways and possibilities to live in this world. Sometimes the habit and our environment-family and friends- set up our minds, and not allow us to think different and watch the reality in a better way.

For that reason I consume content every day.

There is some benefit to consuming as long as one achieves some balance to creating as well. If you are all consumption and no creation, then you are simply feeding on the system.
