@Kaelci brought this issue to my attention when notifying the @freewritehouse she can no longer participate in the #FreeRead contest. She is able to watch videos only with @Partiko(huge shoutout for this @crypto.talk) and cannot upload through d.tube so I suggested trying @dtubenetwork. I imagine she could use a VPN but does not have a great connection speed so slowing it down further isn't the greatest option.

She has mentioned that Dtube.Network does shows some thumbnails but videos still do not seem to play. The upload page does load so she will give it a try and see if she can upload a video so that she can participate in the @OneLoveDTube and @FreeWriteHouse collaborative contest. Last option is to offer her subscription for the One Love Uploader which should not be an issue as its for her to participate in our contest.
We will see how this all plays out and hopefully get her able to upload once again as she was just starting to get comfortable on camera.

A leaked email from optus.com.au states they are blocking d.tube along with a few dozen other sites by the request of the Australian Federal Police.
Changing your DNS to 1.1.1.1 people "should" be able to get to d.tube, if that does not work a VPN may be needed.

Excellent thank you for that information I did not know that! At least I do know now that it is actually federal level across all of Australia. Next time I come across someone having issues I will have to inform them about trying to change their DNS.

@d00k13 yeah it's due to the Christchurch shooting. The NZ and Aussie Telcos panicked knowing many sites would not honor a request to take down legal content so they outright banned their customers from viewing the content. I have not seen the Christchurch shooting video circulating dtube but if it did I wouldnt mind and I think it should stay online and available for anyone to view that chooses to.

I live in Canada and occasionally have problems watching d.tube video. I just watched this video on my PC, but it would not play on my Android phone in @partiko or in chrome thru dtube.network. I am wondering if this might have something to do with access to IPFS nodes?

Yeah for my video specifically it’s an issue with the app which hasn’t quite been resolved yet, the solution that was previously found broke all other DTube links while making the One Love Uploder Videos playable..... the IPFS link at bottom of post should play from @Partiko

I am not sure why it does not play... Dtube network adopts specialized tagging so it can point to the correct embed.

@d00k13 yeah just things like reinstalling the browser.. clearing temp files and upgrading the browser if it's far behind. Besides that changing browsers can fix it.

I believe it is just DTube and a few other alternative sites, check @solominers comment above for the “leaked” list.
With YouTube they can simply request a take down 😉

OMG thanks for the heads up! I'll give it a go at least then I can watch d.tube vids again.
Unfortunately if I want to start uploading videos again I'll need to sort out my VPN or DNS. It's been a brutal few months down under d.tube wise that's fo sure.

That is strange. I am having trouble watching on my Android tablet. It shows vids as having 0:00 minutes when I click on them. But it's fine on ym PC. I'm in Quebec. I think for me it's a setting or something on the tablet. I'll need to figure that out.

How are you attempting to watch the videos on your tablet? Such as what browser or portal?
PC does seem to be the most supported option, sad when more people use mobile than PC in this day and age. Completely explains why were are stuck with low active users.

I do admit I am more of a computer person than a tablet person. But it IS practical. On my Tablet I have Android Lollypop installed and when I'm in Partiko, I just clock on the video image/icon to try to watch it. For some reason, it doesn't work for me. I'm wondering if it has to do with settings or permissions on my tablet. I am not a whiz at this sort of thing, so I wouldn'T begin to know where to look to test that out.

I’m not a wiz either but I fiddle till I figure out what works 😅 I like the tablet or iPad for on the go more than just my phone due to its small screen.
For this video specifically, it is uploaded with the One Love uploader which does not play within Partiko for some reason. Still trying to work out the details but the IPFS link should play no problem 👌

Hmm, not seeing IPFS link on the tablet. Just seeing the thumbnail for the video with the video duration, which is what I clicked on before.
Gonna have to do that, I suppose, fiddle until it works 🤣
The tablet is the only smart device I have since I don't even have a dumb phone anymore. I transferred my number to a mail system to cost me less. I keep the number but can only receive messages with it, text or voicemail.

Yea that’s a smart move if your not using it for business there is almost no reason to have one other than for messaging, I use mine constantly but I have almost no other way of accessing the internet while I’m constantly on the go!

Oh, in another post, I saw IPFS and could click it. It just wasn't visible to me on this one. I checked permissions and stuff on the tablet. Everything seems fine. The Dtube app seems to be nonfuctional on my tablet, so that might explain a few things. If Dtube videos open in the browser, then it works.

Yea I have never used the DTube app only partiko and the browser.... simple way to open the videos in browser from partiko is those DTube & IPFS links typically at the bottom of the post.
So many little bugs make solving the issue super complex but the dev of DTube.network is working to solve all these separate issues with how links are handled with a smart script.
