I've decided that my struggles with DTube are such that they deserve their own journal entries. Recently I made the decision to post at least one video every day, and since I made that promise I've kept it.
You might ask: if that's your promise where are the videos? The answer is: DTube.
For some reason, DTube gives me an error when I try to upload videos. A little while ago when I started uploading to DTube again I thought this was fixed, but for some reason it started again, recently. At first I managed to solve this by uploading videos from Chrome instead of Firefox (the browser I normally use), but for some reason a few days ago even this stopped working. I tried waiting it out. I tried Googling for answers, restarting my machine, restarting my browsers, turning off ad blockers, turning off antivirus programs (shouldn't affect it, but at this point I was pretty desperate)... nothing has worked. Finally, just to experiment, I tried uploading from my phone. I didn't think it'd work so I just put something random (a League of Legends picture even though the game is Vainglory). Worked like a charm.
So, I've discovered that, for some reason, DTube has an issue specifically with my computer. That might sound like it's my fault except for one thing: with YouTube I don't get these problems. So, with regret, I've started uploading there too (I've been doing stuff that I've done here first and posting it later - YouTube still gets the old stuff). I want to build an audience, but having to transfer every video and snapshot over to my phone before posting it is pretty damn ridiculous. I'm open to solutions if anyone has them, but this is affecting my ability to contribute and it's pretty annoying.
The error specifically is usually either "Error: Unknown Error" or "Error: Please upload a video before submitting." Not especially helpful when I've done nothing but try to upload video all throughout the day. Also, after I uploaded the video from my phone, DTube would not even let me edit the information with the video. I've tried logging out and back in... frankly, I don't know what to do and I'm wondering how many others are having the same issues.
