I have never used a clip from another producer to emphasize a point but here for the first time I am. I give full credit to the original creators of the entire documentary Vice and I highly advise you watch the full 25 minute episode online below.
It contains important and valuable information. I would also like to add here that I rarely swear in messages and the frankly bizarre language below is quoted verbatim and enclosed in quotation marks to denote that.
Having said that, let me deal with the reason I have used this clip and the deep human need I felt to point out what I see as indicative of so much suffering inflicted by humans on other humans! What does humanity mean to you?
Clearly it means different things to different people. In this video we see one that is very poor in my personal opinion.
The US Bail Bonds System
I will not belabor the issue of the US's bail bond system here. It totally deserves a deep dive post and I would love to do one. However here are a few salient points
- No other western country on earth would allow this draconian system of handling their populations
- The bail bonds system in the US is extremely profitable with conservative estimates putting the market at around $2 billion per year.
- It encourages corruption and has influenced judges to set bails which are well beyond people’s ability to pay.
- It works hand in hand with the private-for-profit prison system to keep as many people locked up as possible.
- Everybody knows about it and let us hope it ends as soon as possible.
Meet Michelle Esquenazi - In Her Own Words!
In this short video clip Michelle uses the following language to a ”bail bond jumper” who has been SWAT style caught at home and brought before her.
Michelle Esquenazi is the CEO, Empire Bail Bonds and a cog in this multi billion dollar industry. Here she is transcribed in her own words. I allow you to decide for yourself if this woman seems to be showing human compassion or humanity. Whatever the case I am sure it is lucrative for her.
Michelle Esquenazi - A Language Of Filth!
“We’re portrayed as these evil bail-bondsmen who make money. Senators make money, judges make money!” Truest thing she could have said!
“Don’f fucking lie to me, you’re full of shit. Because you didn’t come in here the next fucking day and clear up your warrant like every other fucking asshole.” - Her lucrative businesses clients are assholes. An opinion which is telling, perhaps even of a wider malady!
“You don’t give a shit about your family.” - Who really has the right to tell you that?
“I’m going to make sure the judge doesn’t set bail on your risky ass.” - This woman is now going to influence a judge and deny this man the right to liberty and providing for a family! What? Insanity!
“I hope you bend over for the soap when you get in there!” - Foul mouth vindictive speech that I believe belongs nowhere in our legal system. Get it out! She is clearly angry but statements like that are indicative of an uncaring and spiteful person. We have all seen this before!
“Give him a fucking shirt ok.” - A shirt advertising her bail bonds company.
“Why did you get arrested? Because you are an upstanding citizen?” - Now she is judging and criticizing him. What for? She has no right to ask this question, but she obviously thinks she does!
“Buena surety man” - Good luck with what? Not getting bail, not caring about your family or bending over for the soap? Hard to tell with this woman!
Everybody can make their own minds up. I understand she is angry. I understand speech changes around the world to reflect our unique cultures. The guy admits to having a drug problem which I see as a health issue and not any reason for this woman to be speaking to him in this degrading disgusting way.
I was so repulsed I had to point this shocking behavior out. I do advise that you watch the rest of this documentary as it makes very important points.
I feel Michelle Esquenazi's attitude may be part of the problem! What do you think?
