Watch [Part 5] Productivity in Business and in Life - Upgrading Your Decisions video on DTube

The spam commenters on Steemit should really take heed to this video. I think so many of them are very short-sighted people. They have a big - no, a HUGE - opportunity to develop a reputation that could pay off for years to come. Sure, they'll need to grind it out for awhile like everyone else has had to do who isn't a rich investor, but it's worth the effort, I believe. Why don't they believe it?

Awesome! And I mostly agree!
But I also experienced that one of my posts was hidden and categorized as spam.
Although it only contained some legit bitcoin mining sites (can provide
proof, they paid to me). Plus regular talk, explaining what its all about etc, There were 3 upvotes versus one down. Yet others still keep their potes open and promoted - containing the same stuff. Not fair to me. Although I usually dont post "spam" then I figured if others are profiting here and getting referrals, why not do it once?

Part of the problem is that it costs Steem Power to flag someone, so when a post contains a lot of comments that are spam, some of those comments end up staying visible because people don't want to waste all their daily power allowance flagging. The spammers know this by now and what I've seen is an increase in spam because of it. For the spammer, it's all a numbers game. For x-amount of spam posted, they'll get x-percentage positive response. Do it enough and the benefits to the spammer start to add up.

And when other people who are new or just struggling on here see that, it encourages them to try it themselves. Eventually though, spam makes a platform like this an eyesore to people thinking about joining. I'm sure you've seen forums that have been overrun with spam end up like ghost towns. That's where Steemit is heading if the problem isn't nipped in the bud soon.
