Very good stream, it's scary the amount of information that can be gleaned/inferred by the algorithms being used by many social media platforms, search engines and the like.
I seem to remember an anecdote that involved a father finding out about his daughters pregnancy after he complained to a supermarket chain following receipt of some vouchers for nappies or some such thing. The algorithms had worked it out before he did based on her loyalty card buying habits.
Now please bear in mind that I'm just outlining the gist of the anecdote as I don't have the source at hand so any or all of the details I've said there may be completely wrong but it's a good demonstration of the thing.

This was an excellent stream, Chris. I've mentioned so many times to friends and family the pitfalls involved in giving so much of ourselves to social media giants such as FB. It's awesome to see people such as Bill and yourself providing viable alternatives to informational slavery. Outstanding as always. Thanks again, friend 🌞

Thought provoking platform. I'm not a big fan of social networks. After the listening to the podcast still not sure who owns the data, who can access the data or how they comply with privacy laws. I'm just as scared of minds.com as I am Facebook.

Maybe you should build a decentralised Facebook? 😀
