Honestly I think bitcoin might not be the best path forward in cryptocurrency. It may have been the first, but advancements have been made and implemented into newer cryptocurrencies.

    it is definitely not the future of crypto. The only thing sustaining it's price is that you usually have to go through BTC to buy and trade the alts.

    Yes, that's a very important aspect. Bitcoin is the mainstream coin. As people spend more time in the community, they learn about better coins to invest in. Bitcoin is the gateway, which keeps it alive
