Manhunt: The Search for Castmates - a documockumentary

Part documentary, part mockumentary, Manhunt: The Search for Castmates is a short film I created in 2012 that was inspired by another short documentary called Hotel Torgo. More specifically, it examines the slight inaccuracies and myths that are told in Hotel Torgo and I attempt to debunk them with the assistance of others.

"I realized that that that that they probably already edited that part and decided that I was just inconveniently alive." Jackey Neyman Jones

The Search for Castmates attempts to shed light in a humourous way, on the "mysterious deaths and disappearances" of "Manos" cast members. This was done by curating information and interviews by others and weaving it with edited clips of "Manos: The Hand of Fate". I just stitched it together to tell a story and help debunk some myths. Some additional dialogue was also recorded to re-dub one of the scenes.

TRIVIA: I designated the police car as car #66 for a couple of reasons. One is because the film was released in 1966 and the other is because of the very loose connection to the Route 66 television series. Read Debbie's Manos for the full story.

UPDATE: Since this short film was released, three of the people involved have died.

  • Bernie Rosenblum died April 23, 2015
  • Tom Neyman died November 12, 2016
  • Vince Rotolo died April 27, 2016

UPDATE #2: At the 3:23 mark of the documockumentary, regarding Diane Mahree, Jackey Neyman Jones mentions that she is going to be in the sequel, Manos: The Search for Valley Lodge. At the time this was true and most of the surviving cast members reprised their original roles, including Tom Neyman as The Master. However there were huge disagreements between the cast and the director. Tension was thick, tempers boiled over and the film was never completed.

Manos Returns

Disillusioned by her experience on the failed attempt at a sequel, Jackey vowed to make one herself and have complete control and see it through. Tonja Atomic was brought on board as the director.

A Kickstarter campaign was launched and was a huge success, one which I was happy to donate to, no matter how small the amount. I received my reward of two songs from the original movie, re-recorded by Nicki Mathis, including "Forgetting You."

In case you're wondering, Tom Neyman was able to return in his role as The Master and completed filming his part not long before he died.

Filming has completed and Manos Returns should be released soon.

Jackey Neyman Jones wrote a book about her experience as a young child filming the movie Manos. It's called GROWING UP WITH "MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE": HOW I WAS THE CHILD STAR OF THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE, AND LIVED TO TELL THE STORY and is still available for purchase.

This short film is not an attack on Hotel Torgo. I actually like that film. This video just affectionately pokes a little fun at it. I hope you have as much fun watching it. It also is not trying to disrespect any of the cast members, living or dead.
