In the late 60's 67-69 our San Jose hippie tribe would hitch hike or find a van and head up to Nevada City. From there we would backpack in and down to the awe inspiring bank along the north fork of the Yuba River. You could still drink the water from it. We discovered other tribes and travelers along the banks who had discovered this secret place where you could party with the sound of your voice, a few instruments packed in and any natural percussion object and anyone who was there. Or you could be alone easily, and except for an occasional plane, only hear nature. We packed in light and natural, and carried out as much trash as we could carry. It remained mostly trash free. But word spread and more people came. Many did not know how to keep it as they found it. - Can you still drink the water from the North Fork of the Yuba River?
