why the new dtube will not be (probably) just another blockchain switch (like lino was)

forgive me but I only caught a small amount of the live cast from the dtube forum this weekend but I was really interested in the information that was shared about the new version of dtube — the big news about being able to login with your using steam details, the cross posting still to steem and the new blockchain on the new version and the witnesses ‘blocks’ and who is securing their network moving forward, I really liked the way he wanted to fix the issues he had encountered over the last year and come up with radical ways of fixing that! :)

Why this is not another “Lino” situation

I can understand a bunch of people maybe being frustrated about this being a similar sounding/feeling ‘dlive’ style ‘switch’ away from the steem blockchain to another chain but I feel with the new version of dtube all the features you know and love are going to co-exist but with a separate flavour (instead of migrating to the new maybe running alongside) and being able to still cross post to the steem blockchain yet removing a bunch of the current issues with the way that steem works and addressing a ton of frustration points for existing content creators — it’s worth a shot right?

I speak about it more in the video, see what you think, feel free to comment, please don’t be frustrated if I don’t answer your comment however, I have limited mental bandwidth currently but I’ll try my best if the comment fires my synapses! :)

Peace and love!

Been testing it out for a few weeks now and I like it. @heimindanger mentioned on discord that the new.d.tube site is just to test out new features, everything's going to be merged into existing DTube in the final product. So the DTube you know will stay the way it is, plus you have the option to link videos from other centralized platforms.

I'm guessing you'll have the ability to be logged into just their blockchain for linking if you don't want to earn any Steem, so that's going to be interesting. But yeah, I don't see it being a similar case to DLive as well. They sure will have their work cut with messaging though since the first impression you get is that they're abandoning Steem. I imagine we'll see a lot of angry knee-jerk reactions when it launches.

of course, that's why i did this video because i think people need to look closer at it. excited to see the merge and i like the idea of the other chain as well, seems like he fixed a bunch of things that are specific for dealing with video content on a blockchain that steem obviously does not without a hard fork. roll on forward motion!

@teamhumble interesting they are launching their own blockchain.. maybe it's a side chain and hope its going to solve the dtube gateway performance issues like buffering or videos failing to load from their site.

yep, i'm kinda pumped about it if i'm honest. progress is progress, approaching things in a different way in this space is valuable because nothing is forever and you can change rapidly. we gotta keep trying all the new things and see how it fits!

It's OK, but I'm not sure about it yet. DTube needs to get it's uploading fixed because there is no point trying to onboard people to a broken platform.
