Secluded Beach - Somewhere between South Point and Green Sands Beach, Big Island Hawaii

in dtube •  7 years ago  (edited)

My favorite place to go for peace and serenity! This is where locals come to get away from tourist. It's quit an adventure just getting there. Dodging pot holes and trying to decide which path to take to keep from getting stuck in a pot hole is part of the challenge. I got stuck trying to go up a sandy dune and has to roll back down and take another route. It is always well worth the effort as most times it is just black Bear and myself and not another soul in sight. This area is one of the few hidden white sand beaches in all of Kau.

Hi @thethreehugs. It is oh so pretty! But do be careful walking around alone on that volcanic rock. It is so sharp! My favorite place in Hawaii is Wiemea Valley. on the Big Island. It, too, is quite difficult to get to, but well worth it.

Yes @crystalize, it gets really slippery. I usually carry a walking stick for support and wear my hiking shoes as they have good traction. I haven't been to Waimea Valley yet. Waiting for my boyfriend to get back so he can drive. LOL. I have heard how treacherous it can be. fortunately I have an all wheel drive jeep.

You're going to love it there, @thethreehugs! Bring a surf board, if you can. You have to cross the river by food, but it's petty shallow. Also, when you get to the Big Island, be sure to check out Spencer Beach. You have to hike in (its flat mostly) but worth every second. Stay safe and enjoy!!

Thanks my friend. However, I am not a surfer and I live on the Big Island in Naalehu. Lol Where are you?

I'm in Seattle where the beaches are rocky and the water is cold. Brrrr! But I love the Big Island best of all, especially the Kona side. If you ever get the chance, go to French Polynesia and check out the island of Moorea. It hearkens thoughts of what Hawaii must have been like before it was heavily populated. You'll love it.

I know the Seattle beaches fairly well. I lived in Lakewood and Pullaup for many years. My daughter and grandkids are still there. Was there last June of 2016.

Fantastic! it really is beautiful here.

Yes indeed it is. I do miss it but I love Hawaii too, especially the weather and the warm Aloha.
