I am going to share with you the easiest and most stable way to build a dual mining rig. The easiest rigs I have built so far was using ETHOS. Ethos is a mining OS that you can buy at GPUSHACK.com. from a personal experience, do not even bother with windows.
A huge plus is Ethos customer support. They will help you figure out what is wrong with your rig. We will go into details on how to do so later in the article.
You can choose one of the following dual currencies:
ETH dual mining
· ETH/DCR
· ETH/SIA
· ETH/PASC
· ETH/LBRY
ETC dual mining
· ETC/DCR
· ETC/SIA
· ETH/PASC
· ETH/LBRY
What you will need
· 2 GPU Power Supply
· 2 Power Supply
· 13 Risers
Power supply connectors as needed
Choice of GPUs
Steps to build the rig (Read carefully or fail later) After ordering everything you need, you should start building a wooden rack for 13 GPUs. I choose a wooden rack because we don't care about the way it looks, and wood is easier to use as well as cheaper. Here is an outstanding Guide to building a wooden RIG. Make sure you adjust the dimensions to fit your GPUs count.
1. Install the risers on the frame
2. Install the power supplies on the frame
3. Install the processor, fan and Ram stick (you only need 4 GB per rig)
4. Plug in the fan four pin connector to the motherboard
5. Install 24Pin connector from the power supply
6. Install CPU power connector
7. Install all of your GPUs on the risers
8. Connect the GPU power from GPU power supply
9. Make sure you do not connect more than two GPUs on the same SATA connector
10. Connect the monitor cable to the GPU on the closest PCI slow to the processor
11. Plug in Ethos flash drive
12. Plug in Network cable
13. Plug in Keyboard and Mouse for a first-time setup
14. Plug in riser cable to PCI slot
15. Power up your rig (Here is a link to teach you how to power up your rig without a power button)
More than likely it will not work for the first time or the second time, and it will take a few hours tweaking with it to get it to work. However, if you follow everything in the ethos knowledge base to the dot, you should be able to get it to work. http://ethosdistro.com/kb/ I recommend reading the Knowledge base before you start installing anything. It will save you lots of time.
