Dying Light short review

For those that don't know or haven't played Dying Light, the game is about the fictional Island of Harran which has been overrun with a mystery virus that turns normal folk in to the bitey zombie kind. You play as Kyle Crane an undercover operative who works for the GRE or Global Relief Effort and your task is to help the surviving people of Harran in finding the Antizin (the antidote medication) and supplies that the GRE are airdropping in to the city, and to find out the people responsible for the outbreak. You use your guile and parkour skills to get around the zombie infested city accomplishing various tasks for the surviving citizens of Harran. It's a hideously gruesome and unforgiving game which makes it a survival fans wet dream!

at the moment I'm just sitting here watching my gorgeous partner play Dying Light and just remembering how absolutely ruthless and unforgiving this game was in the early stages. The amount of whacks she has to give the zombies is just crazy, no other game really gives you a sense of really having to survive and attack zombies with every fibre of your being it's really quite a full on experience. I've played a lot of survival games in my past but nothing else really gives you the feeling that at any moment you will die, you can't just run willy nilly in to a horde of zombies and expect to survive, if you miss time a few whacks with your brick hammer, one zombie can be your doom, which makes the fear of death that much more real. Also the fact that the dynamic day night cycle brings with it an entirely new way of playing. If you thought running around Harran during the day time was mental, try doing it at night time, the zombies become Volatiles and there are special night time only zombies/creatures called Bolters that are extremely fast and extremely brutal, if a couple of these start coming at you and you only have melee weapons just run, there's no point in trying to fight them they will kill you quicker than a jagged metal Krustyo.

For me this game was very underrated which surprises me, it has quite a lot of depth, the map is big, the story is well written and the game plays very well, I'm unsure why it got such bad reviews. I think if the people that gave the bad reviews went back and replayed it now they might see how much fun and how much depth Dying Light has compared to other games of this genre.

One thing that I haven't done is play the DLC which is something that I'm going to be doing this time around, the last time I played through Dying Light none of the DLC had come out so now I'm going to give it a go and I'll write a quick review about that as well once I've finished the game in its entirety.

So let me know in the comments below what you thought of Dying Light, this is only my opinion so I want to hear yours.

Dying Light is definitely one of the best survival games I played (I think 1 year ago). With it's giant map, the complex story and possibilities to create and upgrade your weapons... i mean you play on this big map and then, suddenly, you are in another district of the city which is again as big as the first "world".
I already loved zombie-movies and the black ops zombie mode. But when i started playing this game, i just came :D

Nice, brief review - thank you!

I absolutely agree, it's a highly underrated game and really deserves a sequel! you're welcome, thank you!
