How ancient Greeks knew the Earth is a sphere

Lunar Eclipse (2).jpgThe ancient Greeks decided that the Earth is a sphere, because it always makes a circular shadow on the moon, no matter what time the eclipse is. Only a sphere can cast a shadow like that. The same observation can be made today.
