There are many ways to get around at Burning Man. For most people, the best option is via bicycle.
Strap an old beach cruiser or mountain bike to your vehicle and drive on up to the middle of nowhere for a week.
Black Rock City is built every year on a dried up lake bed 3 hours east of Reno, Nevada. It is a small city which now contains upwards of 70,000 people. Roads and infrastructure are necessary. One of the joys of Black Rock is the fact that they limit motorized vehicles so the majority of people either walk or bike.
Not only do people dress up in costumes, so do their bikes. It is also very important to have lights on your bike as well for safe night riding.
Here is our little home base. We named it "Shanty Towne".
Burning Man is a model of how cities could be. There is a very communal vibe with lots of collaboration and sharing. With biking as the main mode of transportation, it cuts down on energy usage and provides great exercise for the people.
