Dormant Strato-Volcano Comes To Life

"The Nabro Volcano is a stratovolcano in the Southern Red Sea Region of Eritrea.
Before its 2011 eruption, the volcano was widely believed to be extinct." 

In 2011 while I was watching Earthquakes using Google Earth I noticed a swarm of quakes in a mostly unknown country in Africa named Eritrea. 

" As of 21:37 UTC, at least 19 earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 or greater have
occurred in the region.[34] The tremors were associated with this eruption. "

Days later when I downloaded MODIS imagery files I saw the picture below. Above you can see a close up of Nabro!

" The ash cloud from the eruption reached altitudes which disrupted airline traffic " and was "estimated to be the highest altitude injection of sulfur dioxide (SO2) ever observed by satellite. "

When there are earthquakes around the world
occasionally there is an inactive Strato-Volcano nearby.
