8slices white or egg bread, cut 1/2 inch thick
2tablespoons softened butter
1/4cup fig or plum jam
4ounces thinly sliced Havarti or Monterey Jack cheese
1small pear or apple, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons sliced almonds or chopped pecans, toasted

Spread one side of each bread cut gently with mollified margarine. Spread opposite side of 4 of the bread cuts with stick. Top stick side of bread with cheddar. Top cheddar with pear and almonds or pecans. Top with residual bread cuts, flatter side.
Preheat an indoor electric barbecue. Place sandwiches on flame broil rack. In the event that utilizing a secured flame broil, close top. Flame broil sandwiches until the point when bread is brilliant and cheddar is liquefied. (For a secured flame broil, enable 3 to 4 minutes. For a revealed flame broil, permit around 6 minutes, turning once part of the way through barbecuing.) Or, place sandwiches on an iron over medium warmth. Cook 5 to 6 minutes or until the point when brilliant and cheddar is softened, turning once. Makes 4 sandwiches.
