1.Skipping breakfast
We often hear the statement: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” but eating breakfast is not so much of a big deal to some. It is reported that people who eat their breakfast are most likely to be thinner than those who skip it. Why should we stop skipping breakfast? Harvard recently conducted a study which included health records of 27,000 healthcare professionals who skip breakfasts with a 27% chance of experiencing heart attacks. Leah Cahill tells that skipping breakfast links to heart diseases because of one factor which is “Prolonged Fasting”. Our bodies tend to fast when we sleep at night and we need to regularly “Break the fast” in the morning to ensure a healthier heart and our regular metabolism.
2.Late night eating
The body’s tendency to sleep at night is to regain its lost energy. Late night eating as well as midnight snacks disturb your body’s way to take a rest. It encourages your digestive system to still its work when it’s supposed to be resting. Also, eating late night allows you to eat more than what you are supposed to. One way to reduce late night eating is to sleep early or brush your teeth after eating dinner. If you must really eat at night, munch on vegetables or fruits. Avoid heavy meals or it will really spoil your diet and promote higher chances of weight gain.
3.Eating during extreme emotions
Stop being an emotional eater. Some people consider food as a reward for having a good day or a comfort for those stressful nights at work. This is okay occasionally but if you are one of those who see food as something you want to have during extreme emotions then you must stop emotional eating. One significant disadvantage of an emotional eater is the large amounts of food consumed during this time. To prevent over indulging with the wrong food, you must plan your reward food or a healthy comfort food you can eat prior to experiencing certain kinds of emotions or stress.
4.Eating 1 full heavy meal
Stop this bad habit! Telling yourself that you are only eating one full meal a day doesn’t mean it is healthy nor does it make you lose weight. It just encourages you to eat more than what your body needs in one sitting and that is more awful than eating normal size meals 3 times a day. Stop the 1 heavy meal eating and encourage yourself by dividing your meals allowing your body to function more thus burning more calories. Dividing small portions of your meals also speed up the metabolism which makes you lose weight faster.
5.Eating while doing something
We all love eating while watching television, driving or on the net. While multi-tasking is a good habit, eating while doing something else is another story. Whenever you eat while doing something you eat more of what you should consume. You fail to feel your body’s signal to determine satisfaction in eating. Thus you eat more. Many are guilty of this but the sooner you realize how much impact removing this bad eating habit can to do your health and your weight, the sooner you will reap its rewards.
