Here is part 2 of our huge French brocante haul. We bought all this on our trip to France. Is it easy to find this sort of thing though?
Well, it used to be like shelling peas. There was a huge, massively undervalued pile of French vintage and antique items at every brocante we went to. Nowadays, things have changed. As is the situation here in the UK, people are realising that they can sell their own or granny's old stuff on Ebay. That means that there is less availability. Then there is the problem of people wanting higher prices after looking on Ebay. Also, and this is a huge issue, is that there are more and more dealers going over and hoovering up the best stuff really early in the morning.
This doesn't affect us too much, as we are always early anyway. But we notice the increasing amount of British buyers wandering around with trolleys, filling them up with treasures we'd have loved to buy! But that's the game. We are all working to the same end, so all after the same stock.
So is this the end of brocante bargains as we know them? I'd say no, as we still manage to bring back the most amazing treasures. We just have to work harder and look for longer.
Enjoy the video. I hope it inspires you!
