For those of us fortunate to be, or be able to be, in the path of totality of the Total Solar Eclipse, we were able to see and image a once-in-a-lifetime cosmic phenomenon. It was the scientific equivalent of a religious experience to look at the Sun without eye protection during totality. The last time I saw one in the area, it was February 1979 and overcast, and had to watch it in class on PBS. They did have excellent coverage, but seeing it live, there is just no comparison.

There was also an interesting phenomenon where tree leaves acted like pinhole cameras, casting images of the eclipse onto the sidewalk.
