Call out robots more often on the phone: it helps them to develop

Many people raised their voices in conversation with specialists from the support service - situations are different, and not always manage to keep oneself in hand. Those who have ever cried on the phone for robots can be proud of themselves: they made their contribution to the development of artificial intelligence.

Communicating with other people, we use figures of speech, slang, curses and sometimes even write new words. But everything changes if our interlocutors turn out to be virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa. In a conversation with them, we specifically simplify our speech: we speak more slowly, we pronounce the words as clearly as possible, we construct shorter sentences. We try to speak so that the program understands us, and we get a paradoxical situation: we do not develop artificial intelligence, so that it would be convenient for us, and it makes us talk as convenient as it is for us.

Meanwhile, artificial intelligence programs will learn to understand normal human speech only if they regularly encounter it, says VentureBeat. And it is virtual assistants who work with consumers-contented and not-have the best chance of being the first to learn the common language of human communication and to encourage the development of their digital "colleagues" in other areas.

Now virtual assistants can answer a question like "Where is the nearest Hyatt hotel?", But it's unlikely to help you if you hear a phrase like "I want to spend the next three nights at the Hyatt hotel somewhere nearby. I need a room with a king-size bed and a view of the city. Where is this hotel? ". The maximum that you get with such a wording of the question, this is a link to the site of the hotel.

But virtual assistants learn quickly. Consumers who turn to them, very often start a conversation, already being something angry or frustrated. In this mood, they do not follow their speech carefully and speak more often in normal human language. As a result, artificial intelligence systems receive a lot of incoming information, which can be analyzed and improved.

Part of the fact that the algorithms themselves catch and remember repetitive situations. But their development is also helped by people - virtual assistants always work in conjunction with living professionals. And every time when the robots from the support service find themselves in a difficult situation, the specialists do not switch the communication to themselves, but help the program to continue the conversation in the right way. Thus, artificial intelligence programs receive the most effective training - in real time on real life examples.

Of course, while virtual assistants basically give us answers to simple questions and only learn to recognize human emotions and react to them correctly. But the more complex tasks we will put before robots, the faster they will learn to solve them.

So do not be shy and tell the robots everything that you think. True, one day one day they will answer you the same.

Very interesting and amusing; I'll be sure to help train my robots in the future lol.

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
