My Thoughts On Hope - EcoTrain Challenge "Join us and write a Poem On Hope".

in ecotrain •  5 years ago  (edited)

Does hope stop us from being proactive?

If I sit here and spend my time hoping for something to happen, am I not just passing the responsibility of it on to someone else? Or am I merely putting my intentions out into the world. Hope is a word we hear a lot about, yet today, it does not sit well with me. It seems too easy to just hope things will improve and then just get away with not doing anything, but yet expect things to change. And plus, there is a whole ritual that goes with setting ones intentions, in sending them out into the world. We can not expect things to just happen, we need to be proactive, we need to remember that we receive what we give out. If we just give out hope, where is the action?

Hope seems to dampen the fire that burns within
because instead I hand it over for someone else to begin.
I do not want hope,
I want action,
I want to feel the passion that drives,
that creates
and not all this distraction.
I know we can focus,
we can release our intentions, out into the world
but now is the time for our dreams to become real and unfurl.
I want to see it all take shape, for each of us to raise up and create.
No longer living in a world, where we follow and allow others to dictate.
This is not the time to be silent and meek
with all these lies we have been fed,
convincing us we are weak,
This cowering behind our words or feelings,
it must stop,
as now is the time to begin our healing.
To tap into the power we hold within,
to reconnect with our inner wisdom
so that we can finally begin.
So that
We
Can
Finally
Begin.

This is my entry into the Ecotrain's latest challenge, Join us and write a Poem On Hope. When I first read the launch post this was not how I imagined my poem would turn out. But as I sat down to write, this is what came out, this is what I needed to say, this is my thoughts on hope. In the end I call for action or indeed I hope for action!

Hope is not so bad if you consider the alternative: hopelessness would be even more defeating!

of course we need hope, as long as action follows xx

Great poem TruckLifeFam ;-)

It seems too easy to just hope things will improve and then just get away with not doing anything

I completely agree and that sentiment comes across really well in your poem!

I particularly like:

I do not want hope,
I want action,
I want to feel the passion that drives,
that creates
and not all this distraction.

And the ending of course, which has that feel of a protest song.

Nice!

thank you @raj808 it is not at all what I was planning but it was exactly what I was feeling at that moment xx

wooow! yeah,, Very good point.. and poem! i feel you .. im sure we did a QOTW on hope some time back.. we need action, and i guess when we cant do something we can only hope! <3 xx

thanks Alex, we do need hope for sure, but action is much more important especially now xx

Oh man, so true. Hopes and prayers are all very good, but unless you fucking act, there is no hope at all xxx

by the way, this is @riverflows, because @naturalmedicine would never swear...

ha ha, cos everyone is so polite and civilized over there, here was I thinking ye were all wild!!!!! xxxx

Oooohh... I like this! I am an Alice Walker devotee from way back. Yes, sometimes the touchy-feely thing we call Hope (but is probably just a Wish) DOES dampen the fire of action. So well observed and expressed! I think true Hope implies action. Everything else is just Wishing. Loved your out of the box response, lady!!

thank you, I guess it is a wish, I just have heard people talk about how they hope things would change yet still do nothing to bring about that change. I hope you are well xx

Wow, strong powerful words... Great poem... Powerful message for everyone.. Thank you for sharing with us...

Yes, mama!! I had a teacher who told me that hope is the sister of fear. I'm very cautious with that word.

I guess there is passive hope, one born of a sense of helplessness, and active hope, yours.
I share your sense that the time is now. As I write that, I realize I have a helpless kind of hope that things will change for us little folk. hmmmm... something to think about. Nice thought provoking take on the question.

I think having hope without taking action towards what you wish for is some kind of hopelessness in disguise. People who have hope should be proactive and take action to realize their hopes. I really enjoyed reading this and the time to act is now.

The best time to do something you dream of is NOW! We have already wished for a lot to change but we are the change we seek and so let's get engaged and make a change coz hope is action.
