Hablando de Danza Nacionalista Venezolana (Zaragozas) / Speaking of Venezuelan Nationalist Dance (Zaragozas)

in education •  7 years ago

The dance at a general level is one of the most varied artistic expressions and full of benefits for the human being. In particular, Venezuelan nationalist dance was born about 68 years ago, with the purpose of presenting on stage the popular traditions of Venezuela embellished by an aesthetic quality necessary to internationalize them, turning them into a colorful show full of pure history.

When I was five years old, I learned to dance joropo, a type of dance belonging to the nationalist genre that I have always loved for its expressiveness of what the Venezuelan is, as well as while I was in the academy where I trained as a dancer, enjoy of a large number of benefits offered by this type of dance.

Today I want to share with you a picture with my portrait at 10 years of age, dressed in Zaragoza, a tradition of my country, celebrated every December 28 in the state of Lara, specifically in Sanare. A very peculiar popular celebration where on the one hand tribute is paid to the Day of the Holy Innocents, remembering that collective murder of children, ordered by Herod, for the failed intention to eliminate the Child God and against the festive behavior of the masked , music, dance, excesses, joy, and the reversal of roles, rather typical of the carnival, but which ultimately form part of Sanareña's idiosyncrasies.

I hope you like this small part of what Venezuelan culture is, told from my perspective. If so, I'd love to read your comments about it.
