Hello Steemit, I am an educator and skilled laborer from Northern Wisconsin

My name is Alex. I am an educator and skilled laborer in Northern Wisconsin.

For the past 15 years I have worked in a wide variety of jobs. I started by working in my dad's auto shop as a teenager. While trying to earn a living and get college credits I worked many different jobs: valet parking, trail builder, wildand firefighter, camp counselor, ecology technician, small scale farming, tour guiding, solar installation and teaching. I fix my own cars and I have built many computers.

I am trying to bring my wide experience to students as a teacher. I have enough of an introduction in many fields to teach the basics of those fields and others to high school students.

I am currently building www.northwoodseducation.com into an online school for students who do not learn well from reading and listening to a teacher talking. I am in the process of building curriculum that uses videos, images and models to teach high level concepts for high school students. I believe that just because a student isn't good at learning in a classroom it doesn't mean that they can't understand and apply high level concepts in real life situations.

I believe that high school semesters are far too long. Students will often be tested on material they learned 3 weeks or a month earlier. Students struggle with demonstrating their knowledge when removed from the material. My system awards small fractions of a credit immediately after the student is able to demonstrate their knowledge of the subject. I want to create a system that immediately rewards students for their hard work with a credit.

I am in the process of building a fully functioning online school setup within the Moodle cloud platform. It will be some time before I release my product full scale to the market, however I intend to share some of my content with both the Steemit community and the Quora community to receive feedback.

I am very open to sharing my work, and the way I hope to make profit is to incorporate as a private school and issue credits and collecting fees when issuing credits. For the time being though I am willing to give my work away to teachers to use in their classrooms free of charge. If you use my work I would like feedback. At this point of the game your feedback is worth more than subscription fees.

At this point I am refining my services offered, I am licensed to teach all subjects K-5 and Special Education for kids K-12. If needed I will bring other teachers in to collaborate and build on my material.

I also answer questions on Quora quite a bit and often write best when trying to answer a question rather than writing in an expository way. I really like taking questions and building content off of those.

To conclude I just want to put up some of the images I have created recently for students about differentiating fact and opinion.
