Professionalism -"the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person"-Merriam Webster

The rise to maturity in any field is characterized by so many factors which may include: passion, environment, Who you follow, skills learnt, experience acquired, and so on (the list continues). However, to get to a certain level of maturity in any field thereby becoming a "professional", there are certain things one must note. I picked these up sometime ago. You may be familiar with them;

  1. You have to learn the foundation/the basics.
  2. It's not all about the company you work with but the boss you follow.
  3. You are permitted to make mistakes that way can be corrected and you can learn from them.
  4. Pay attention to details.
  5. If you find yourself repeating those mistakes, reevaluate yourself.
  6. Learn the secrets of the profession.
  7. Learn skills in that field.
  8. Never stop learning (Learn, unlearn and relearn)
  9. Be open to new ideas.
  10. Strengthen your values in the process of the above mentioned.
  11. know your worth.

There are many more things to be considered on one's way to becoming a professional in any field but these are my thoughts. But don't forget to do what works for you. images.jpg
