The thing about doing an arts and humanities degree is that in the first year you have to study a range of materials that you do not want to specialise in.
Including religion, art history, classical studies, art, philosophy, creative writing, English language and so on...
It has been frustrating for me to wait patiently to get to the creative writing bit, so I was very excited to get a creative writing assignment last month. Yipppeeeeeee!
The assignment was to rewrite a piece on wrestling, from the first person perspective of a woman in the 1930's. It was fun, actually. I love working with prompts like this.
I passed with flying colours, with the exception of a little grumble from my tutor (as always) for not referencing enough on the reflection. Something I am usually guilty of.
I will do another post later about the core parts of writing a story that is important in creative writing.
It is a little odd that I published a book before starting a creative writing degree, but it is so useful in supporting my existing knowledge and strengthening it with the new stuff I learn. Also the other subjects I learn about in this first year, I can now creatively write about if I so wish. So win-win!

For example, I used grademiners reddit to improve my writing. The guys from this service helped me a lot, because I had problems with it. Thanks to them I was able to write a great essay. By the way, those who have difficulties in their studies can ask for online help too. There is nothing shameful or terrible about it. You can also get good advice in communities . There's a friendly atmosphere and there are always those who are willing to help you. Students have been taking advantage of this for a long time.
