Have you ever heard of Duolingo? Well if you haven't, it is one of the world's most popular language learning tools. As any other tool it is not perfect, but let me reassure you it can be very helpful if you are a complete newbie in any language.

As of November 2016, the language-learning website and app offer 68 different language courses across 23 languages, with 22 additional courses in development. The app is available on iOS, Android and Windows 8 and 10 platforms with about 200 million registered users across the world.

Playing it can be quite fun. You just download the app, select your target language, and before you know it you're earning badges and well along the way to learning your desired language.

Drawbacks:

Well, I'm sorry to inform you but, Duolingo won't make you fluent. Here's just a few reasons why:

-Some translations are literal and idiomatic
-There is limited amount of vocabulary
-There is little real-world audio content
-Hints can be misguiding

Advantages:

-It is simple and fun to play with
-There is a preset daily goal which can be set according desired level of learning
-Fast advancing up to a certain language level
-It is completely free

For those who are realy into languages, I would warmly recommend they try this great tool. Amongst other literature and courses it is a very helpful tool.

It would be presumptuous to say that Duolingo is the best way to learn new language. But be sure that it is one of the best tools there is for complete novices in any language. Only when you learn at least 1000 words in new language, basic phrases, basic grammar, only then you can start expanding your knowledge with different tools towards ultimate goal of speaking a language fluently.

You can also choose these alternatives to Duolingo Apps:

1.Memrise
2.Busuu
3.Babbel
4.Rosetta Stone
5.Clozemaster
6.Lingvist
7.HelloTalk
8.Quora

It is a great app I use it on my smartphone to learn Italian, started in July last year had a few pauses during the summer, but I am now 25 % fluent in Italian 😎 Duolingo is a wonderful way to start learning new languages.

That is true. In less than a year I reached 61% Italian fluency, and with help of some other apps I am already pretty confident in small scale Italian conversations.
