I have a principle that tells me that I should only visit adventure parks on school days and never on weekends. In other words, the normal child should be in school, and their parents should be working, thus leaving the fun park left for me to enjoy. For that reason, I expected Efteling to be quite nice as I visited it a few days ago, but I guess I was wrong.
Just before the summer holidays, I guess no teacher is able to teach their children anymore, so instead they take them all to Efteling. That was at least the feeling I had because it was just packed with buses, cars, and kids. As a result, we weren't able to try any activity twice, and some of the most important we weren't even able to try one. For example, the 1896 Baron was one of the things I looked really forward to, but as I checked it there was a 120 minute line, which made me say no.
I did enjoy the Efteling application as it was really useful as you tried to find out which activity to visit and to enjoy, and which one to avoid if you didn't want to stand in a line. For this reason, we were able to do quite a lot of cool stuff, but I do feel sorry about the stuff that we had to leave out as time wouldn't allow it with the giant crowds.
I like the way you pay an entrance fee and then you can do everything in the park as much as you want to. The only problem is that you do not even get to test everything you want, simply because of the crowds. I guess I have learned one more lesson that you shouldn't visit Efteling at all in the end of June or start of July in the Netherlands as all the schoolchildren are taken there to make them survive the last days before their summer holiday.
