Sheer Khurma is a traditional dessert dish that is popularly consumed during the Muslim festival of Eid-ul-Fitr. Here's a simple recipe for making Sheer Khurma:
Ingredients:
1 litre whole milk
1 cup vermicelli (seviyan)
1 cup sugar (or as per taste)
1/2 cup ghee or clarified butter
1/4 cup chopped dates (khajoor)
1/4 cup chopped dried apricots (khubani)
1/4 cup raisins (kishmish)
1/4 cup chopped almonds (badam)
1/4 cup chopped cashews (kaju)
1/4 cup chopped pistachios (pista)
1 teaspoon cardamom powder (elaichi)
Instructions:
Heat the ghee or clarified butter in a pan and add the vermicelli. Fry until the vermicelli turns golden brown in color.
Add the chopped dry fruits (dates, apricots, raisins, almonds, cashews, and pistachios) to the pan and fry for a few minutes until they become brown.
In a separate pan, heat the milk and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the fried vermicelli and dry fruits to the milk and stir well. Let it cook for 5-10 minutes.
Add sugar and cardamom powder to the mixture and stir well. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Turn off the heat and let the Sheer Khurma cool down to room temperature.
Once cooled, transfer the Sheer Khurma to a serving dish and garnish with additional chopped dry fruits.
Serve the Sheer Khurma chilled and enjoy the delicious dessert!
Note: You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste preferences. Additionally, you can also add other dry fruits of your choice to the Sheer Khurma.
